Well now, isn't this great? Now I have the game running,
but:
A. Object clipping is for s***! as seen here:
Inline Image:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/9158/problemom.jpgAnd also, this is the only shot I can really get. Y' see, I installed Darkloader, Up' ed "Strife 3 Beta" by RiceBug (great mission that I'm beta testing), and now, whenever I start thief 2, no matter what FM I try loading/unloading, strife 3 is the
only mission I can play.
^ that above is definitely problem B.
And C. Well, actually this isn't the problem, but I now can play Thief 2 with the bloom effect patch... It's neato! :laff:... :bored:
Oh wait...
C. Thief enhancement pack, Widescreen patch both failed to install. I am confused as heck on these 2 problems, and suspect them to have something to do with vista... But then again, maybe I'm wrong and they're just screwed up.
But really, is there a solution to these problems, at least?

Darkloader will often lock on the last FM you played. All the FM saves will be in the folder for SAVES.
.The cure is SIMPLE. ALWAYS INSTALL ONLYTHE ORIGINAL GAME (TDP or TMA).
That sets Darkloader back to neutral. All the saves for all the original games and the FMs are saved in a special file and recalled when you fire up Darkloader and select a FM or original game.
If you don't INSTALL ONLY one of the original games, you will often find that the last FM you played is the only game available to you.
This has been mentioned a number of times but players tend to ignore it until the games lockup as yours has. The solution is start your FM, quit the game and INSTALL ONLY TMA (if it is a Thief2 FM, or TDP if not).
Try it, I'll wager it will work. I've never had any problem with Darkloader in all its permutations unless I failed to INSTALL ONLY the original game.

OK, so how about the widescreen and enhancement patch, then? And that blasted clipping, how do I remove all that?!

Don't use any of them, but they should have naught to do with your locked FM saves/game.
Have you run DXDIAG? It might give you a hint and be sure to check the MSINFO tab under MORE HELP for conflicts.

Look up the difference between "explain" and "describe".Notice the only input some people have is to berate
Albert, as your running the intel chipset, you dont need ddfix etc, but what you will need to do is download the latest driver for that gfx card -

so I'm assuming it has something to do with my system.
Ok as thief is an old game it does this sorta bollox from time to time.
1. uninstall the game and the gfx drivers.
2. install the gfx driver
3. reinstall directx
4. install thief
5. make a zip of the thief folder as it (vanilla)
Now try and run thief, if it runs move on to the next bit..
6. install the WS patch
Now try and run thief, if it runs move on to the next bit..
7. (optional) install DDfix - be aware a. the GMA950 isnt upto the extra work, b. it isnt required for running thief on intel gfx.
Now try and run thief, if it runs move on to the next bit..
8. Install the enhancement pack
Now try and run thief, if it runs move on to the next bit..
9. stop bothering everyone and go play the bloody game :cheeky:
