I am a die-hard CRT fan ( I have 4 in my bedroom as backups). What is an aperature grill?

There are 2 types of CRT tubes - shadow mask and aperture grille. Aperture grille tubes are true flat screens and they have the purest colors, generally better contrast and brightness than shadow masks, because aperture grille doesn't screen as much electrons as shadow mask.
There are Sony Trinitron Aperture Grille Tubes (only Sony monitors like G200, G400), and Mitsubishi Diamondtron Aperture Grille Tubes (Mitsubishi/Nec monitors (Diamond Pro/FE SB models) , some models of Iyama, Samsung (NF series), some Philips series, some other companies manufactured models with the Diamondtron tubes too). They were very popular amongst designers.
