The dogs didn't disappear for me (I didn't go there until after turning the Brain Scorcher off) and in fact if I went into the area with the dogs the game eventually crashed so I just avoided the place.

There's actually holes in the fence on both sides, and a ladder near the door. That sucks about the decoder- well, I mean- it makes sense- and I didn't think it would work on other doors during my playthrough either, but it sucks that it means there's no answer about the other doors. I guess they could just be props.
Someone on the gamespot forums said they looked through the level files an the other doors in the brain scorcher area weren't even set up to open.

Did anyone find the beretta, the HPSA, the revolver nade launcher or the hunting shotgun? I searched the stash files and couldn't find any of them anywhere. The only way I managed to get them was to mod the trader/stash files.
I think the contents of the stashes are pretty unbalanced. They range from hilariously useful (silencer, M203, Vintorez) to bloody useless (a merc suit with NV in Wild territory). The fact that some of them are so good also gives you a big incentive to search every single corpse, something which I don't feel was intended to be a big part in the game since the best you usually get is a gun, half a mag, some food and maybe a bandage or a medkit. Most notably I think is that none of the enemies drop cash unlike most rpgs, and the carry cap is particularly unsupportive of mass lootings.

Addition: There a vintorez in the freedom base. Walk in, go to the first crossroads, make a left and go into the second building, the one with no one in it. The building has a large chamber and a smaller one at the far side. Go all the way towards the smaller chamber, almost into the doorway but remaining in the large chamber. Look down, the floor will have an area that looks damaged. Hold R, and you'll see the vintorez. Crouch low and you should be able to pick it up.

I've HEARD the beretta can be found on one of the duty guys in the north Garbage area, but I've never made enemies of either faction, so I haven't tested that theory.
Anyone able to tell me where I can find a silencer?
steo on 16/4/2007 at 20:14
I think all the silencers are in stashes. Just did a search of the stash file, looks like there are four stashes with silencers in them, 3 in agropom above ground and one in the dark valley. Theres also only one stash with each type of grenade launcher in it - the vog launcher in the dark valley and the M203 in Wild territory. I seem to recall there being an AK74 in a locker in Yantar with a grenade launcher attached as well though.
Does anyone know of any enemies which drop silencers/nade launchers? I know half of the mercs in Wild territory have scopes on their guns but I don't recall seeing silencers/launchers.
Oh and theres also an LR300 with an M203 attached in the freedom armoury but AFAIK you have to kill the guard to get it.

A silencer can be at the car yard where you help Bes defend against bandits when you first enter the the Garage map.
It's in the back of a truck in a box underneath a wooden ramp. Incredible hard to run into without searching every nook and cranny. Use knife to open boxes.

WOW- Great find! For anyone else looking who wants a more detailed explanation of where it is-
When you've entered the garbage from cordon, you go into Bes's vehicle graveyard and head west towards the agropom-side exit. The last vehicle within the fence on your right should be a truck with open rear doors and a crate inside. I couldn't just jump in, but a bandit corpse can also make a convenient ladder. Go in to the rear of the truck and turn around- see that blue box under the ladder? That's your silencer.
Thanks a lot roguefrog

Much better silencer location! Right before you go under the bridge with the military in Cordon, go directly left to the group of buildings. Jump on the truck, then the roof, then look to your left. See that blue container? Destroy it. It appears to having nothing, BUT if you go INSIDE the building, you will get some ammo and a detachable silencer!
BTW: Your welcome!

Eh. Nice I suppose, but so far silence doesn't seem to help me much.
Anyway, there's a battery artifact (heat version) in the millitary base area. On the northern edge, there's an area where a pack of dogs hangs out, with several skeletons. The artifact is just laying on the ground there.
This is the 'battery' that gives 30 fire resistance, not the elec one. It's also the only one of those I know of.
