I find it easier to see during night time without the green NVG, and I'm nightblind. :o

i don't have any problems to see in the night, i use NV only for buildings and if someone is miles away.

I've been playing along and never really noticed a day and night cycle until I saw this thread. Needless to say I turned down the gamma, and now nights actually look like it's nightime. And have to say I should start a new game because it makes a HUGE difference in the gameplay. Much more atmospheric!
The weather and sky effects in this game are very good even using static lighting which I am. I was originally hestitant to buy the game thinking my old comp wouldn't be able to run it, however I'm able to max out everything at 1024 X 768 and other than hiccups runs very nice.
I have an X700 Pro card and tried using dynamic lighting and it looked way better indoors, however my FPS must have been in the single numbers. Strange thing was outdoors didn't look all that different.

It's not the gamma, it's just static lighting. With static lighting there will be no difference in light level any time if the day, only the color of the sky will change. This game needs to be played with Full Dynamic Lighting.

I use FDL, and yet the nights are still too bright.

Maybe you should try the Darker Nights mod.

I haven't tried it as I can only use static lighting, but from what I have read it appears to make stealth easier to achieve as well as darkening the nights.

I simply adjusted the brightness/gamma settings. That was enough for me.
