While playing Stalker recently, I suddenly came up with this idea. Every time I was heading back to the bar from the south I had to pass this bunch of dogs, moreover after X16 a huge horde came to munch on my bones. I thought, wouldn't it be nice if this pack of dogs was actually on your side? If you could walk around with your "pack" and just point to enemies and the dogs would finish them off? Like it is done with the bug scent in HL2. It would be awesome to send a whole bunch into the enemies camp.
Or maybe just one dog, like in the movie "I am legend."
Then you could buy your dog some shields and have to buy dog food, because he would get hungry too if there are no enemies to chew on. If he dies, you would have to go to the bar and buy a new one. He might even be able to find artifacts for you and mark them by barking (or pissing :laff: ).
Maybe there is something like this already out there, but I've never seen it!?

don't know about a dog companion mod. sound equally fun and stupid.

I have never worked in the guts of STALKER, but logically they'd have different "group" for all mutants, so you could make yourself a Mutant Empathy Guy...

I like the idea. It suits the feel of Stalker.
Fable2 is supposed to feature a canine companion that does a similar thing, attack enemies, sniff out treasure. Though in Fable the dog will be yours forever, no matter how you treat it, I think it would be nice if you actually have to earn its loyalty (feed it, heal it, pat it), but of course it shouldn't turn into a chore.

When we're at it, I want a pet Bloodsucker.

While making a non-hostile dog shouldn't be any trick, getting one to follow you around and protect you would be a trick.

Oblivion Lost has a feature where you can talk to any non-quest friendly stalker and tell them to come with you so uh

Hehe, I thought of that too. Just imagine having your own pet Controller or Boar.
I also thought about something like a System Shock 2 feature, were you could control an enemy with Neural Restructuring to make him an ally. Just imagine taking all the bloodsuckers out of the village and invade the Warehouse with them. :wot:
Edit:
Moreover, you could actually make a quest out of this. You would have to perform a few missions for the scientists at X16 and when you completed them all they hand you over that thing that usually protects you from the Brain Scorcher. But now it has a new psi function. Back at the bar you will be able to buy psi powers. Or you get them when you complete a mission for the barkeeper/scientist. That would transform Stalker form a more shooter oriented game to a tactical one. Well...maybe not. But I think it could be fun.

I think I'd rather be a bloodsucker or mutant. Maybe in OL when you dream you get to control a mutant for a length of time or something, or you can play the whole game sneaking around ambushing people at random times.
Or have a multiplayer where people can inhabit different mutants.
