Just try follow the readme and see what happens, maybe this guy played with the file paths or something.

My card supports shader model 3.0, but I have a doubt regarding the instructions in the readme file. It says: "The file structure within this zip file MUST be kept intact or it will not work, period."
But this means that all the files will be left in a folder named 'Float32_4247_036a_RELEASE', which doesn't make much sense, especially when the FSGAME.LTX file, which we're supposed to edit, references \gamedata. I'm wondering if what I should do is to put this gamedata folder in the Stalker install directory.
Apparently you have to skip that first folder, as it will only break if I do that :p But I did it both ways just in case.
I'll try deleting the shadows.h file. I hope Ati support comes soon, as I assume that's the reason I'm getting such horrible performance with dynamic lighting.

Yes, that's what I thought made sense, and I tried it that way. The game works, but I don't notice much difference. But in truth, I never had problems running the game in 1280x1024 with max detail and getting good frame rates.

The gamedata folder should be extracted to your Stalker directory.
I think he needs to clarify that in the notes.

Well I just deleted the shadows.h file and now the mod works fine on my X800XT, not sure I can actually notice the difference though.

I tried it. No notable performance increase (kept my User.ltx) but it does seem to bring a improvement in overall looking goodness. Some stuff is crisper and sharper, at least than i remember (laid off Stalking until patch 2. 12321381293 days and goin! I can make it!) :erm:

Any side-by-side shots of this add-on in action? It's tempting, but I'm nervous about installing third-party "upgrades" on games I haven't yet finished.
Bjossi on 28/4/2007 at 21:22
If you are nervous about it, you can backup your savegame files. And if something goes wrong just unInstall the update or reInstall the game + patch if the savegames stop working.

To remove the update, all you'll have to do is delete the extra files. It doesn't overwrite anything (unless you've already extracted your game data files).
