I have never seen a graphics update that improves performance or doesn't change it at all. Nice find. :)

After installing this, it says my video card doesn't meet the game requiments (pixel shader v1.1 required) :/

You need a Geforce 4 or lower to make that error make sense. I smell a bug.

ah ok well....
What driver/card are you guys running..?

I've got an x800 pro.

You need a card that supports Shader Model 3.0 for this to help you.
X800 unfortunately, does not.

Oh, shit. Well I guess the use of shader model 3.0 code explains the performance boost, too bad my card doesn't support it though...

Are you sure about that? Just read this off the main site:

Note to ATI Users from the author:
There is an error within the shadows. GSC screwed up and did not support hardware shadows with ati hardware. I removed the software shadows from the script to clean it up since nobody who is using full dynamic should be using software shadow. Well, this broke ATI support and I forgot to fix it. So when you install the shaders, delete "shadow.h" and you should be fine. If you have the entire game extracted, then replace "shadow.h" with the stock one after installing my shaders.
True, it only talks about shadows, but he states that it breaks ATI support. I don't have an ATi card, so I can't confirm it. But maybe that's the reason why you're getting the error. It wouldn't hurt to check.

My card supports shader model 3.0, but I have a doubt regarding the instructions in the readme file. It says: "The file structure within this zip file MUST be kept intact or it will not work, period."
But this means that all the files will be left in a folder named 'Float32_4247_036a_RELEASE', which doesn't make much sense, especially when the FSGAME.LTX file, which we're supposed to edit, references \gamedata. I'm wondering if what I should do is to put this gamedata folder in the Stalker install directory.
