Ok, so I picked up COP recently and it played ok for a while, but now I am experiencing random crashes, usually with some error about the xray engine has stopped responding. I have latest drivers and all that. Any patches or known issues with this at all?
Koki on 11/6/2010 at 08:26
Release? Version? OS? Mods? Event Viewer? Googling the error itself?
PigLick on 11/6/2010 at 15:29
Obviously I have already searched around, its a common error, but the cause is unknown. There was a patch for the russian version I found, but not the english release.

English version is patched out of the box/Steam

Well that sucks then. I am running Vista 64bit, with the retail version. Some forums suggest it could be a lighting problem, but I have changed the settings around and the crashes still occur.

nVidia? Have you tried changing the DX version you're using? All I can think of really.
Maybe try having a fiddle with the view/lighting distance sliders too
Also seconding Event Viewer

ok, just to puts everyones minds at ease, just a simple reinstall seemed to do the trick. Oh yeh, and Call of Pripyat is fucking awesome, it really blew me away with that early on quest to find the bloodsucker lair and you go underneath the Krug complex with all the sleeping suckers.

Agreed. Honestly the only thing that has been a letdown is the voice acting, and I guess thats just where they ran out of money (at least in the english version, I would happily take subtitles if my steam version had the option).
Koki on 24/6/2010 at 05:12
Does the language switch option still work in Steam? There's a fan patch that adds subtitles.
