Beat the game and it certainly was better than Clear Sky.
Surprised on how big it was and how much there was to do...
So is the next STALKER supposed to come to consoles as well

this is the ukranian gold-candidate afaik. stolen & pirated from the production facility before public release. it will be out officialy on october 2nd in the ukraine and rus, in november in germany, austria, switzerland and start of 2010 in the US/Rest of World. they have a small german publisher for world-release (germany has a big, big PC market), GSC is publishing themselves in the east. The current version has a twin-copy protection:
- either you activate online and disable the cd-check
- or you install some driver that checks your disk (smells like targes to me, didn't check)
as you can see, both copy protections are very, very effective. :ebil:
I just bought STALKER-Call of Pripyat at a market & am hesitant to use it knowing that Starforce is so malicious. I was hoping someone would know how to identify the version I have and whether it is a Starforce Russian disc. The filename is "tpg-stcop-setup.exe". It is 2,940,607 KB in size with Date modified details as 3/10/2009 4:32PM. Any ideas? Thanks

I don't have such file on the disc and my game uses Starforce. Anyway, Starforce isn't so malicious as you probably imagine it.

Few questions, after first play ..
1) Does infrared upgrade on helmet actually do something ?
2) I have a stash in middle of Jupiter factory, but there is nothing there. Any idea ?
3) Is there any 'special' way how to use Compass or Hearth of Oasis artifacts ? I mean beyond their normal specs. Compass is very 'different' .. it can be dropped and it won't vanish.
4) Anybody understands the mechanism beyond Oasis ? I kinda stayed there for some time, trying EVERYTHING .. and then, just in the moment i did nothing, *pop* Oasis found ..
All around great game ! Stable (but I only used XP and static lightning), lots of nice quests, lots of wow moments (I met stalker who walked into anomaly, and I had to rescue him .. or the UAV). I agree that it is hard to believe it is the same company as CS.

1) don't know
2) don't know which one you mean. there are a few stashes that are empty because most stashes in COP are "out in the open", meaning real stashes as opposed to just boxes
3) no
4) easy (after doing it myself for 1h):
- cross the room in a straight line between any of the columns/pillars -> the snowflake anomaly will show up (random spot)
- cross the room again but take one pathway that has NO snowflake thing -> 1-2 new snowflake anomalies will spawn
-) repeat above until you have 4 (I think) snowflake anomalies.
from this point on, if you pass through the snowflake anomalies in the order of the nearest position to farthest you break the infinity loop and get transported to the oasis.
Btw, there is no wrong way to solve the puzzle, you can't get stuck, you can always get the solution from any position in the puzzle you are in. No reloads necessary.
