The only sellable docs you should keep are the Strelok ones(Did you find all three?). Rest can be sold to whomever you want(Duty and Freedom also take them).
No, I found two letters in Zaton and Janov. Is the third document in Pripyat perhaps? Do you remember locations of all three letters?
I was also wondering... Did you give artifacts to the stalker in the scientists bunker so that he can fulfill his contract?
And what is - in your opinion - the best suit one can wear without calibration tool upgrades? I can afford anything now (and before going to Pripyat I desperately need some armor that allows me to carry more stuff), but I do not want to buy exoskeleton as I will not be able to run.
mothra on 9/12/2009 at 11:13
you can upgrade the seva (which you will need) with 4 artifact slots and put a +kg artifact in it. problem solved. I just ran around in the military suit I got from Owl (since I sided with Sultan and Owl fears me now) for sprinting. Not that you need it, I never sprint even if I can. I either walk there or take a guide.
And I didn't know there were 3 strelok messages. I only found the one in the big harvest thing-y in jupiter.
if you give the 2 artifacts to gari in the bunker he leaves earlier.
nevertheless he will still come up in pripyat no matter if you did the quest or not, so I don't think it's much difference. You get a nice stash location from him I think.
and I got the "take away stalker detectors" quest so I could get the "boss" achievement.
and I did not sell ANY info about the mysterious mercs and it did not make any difference in the ending, so....yeah, I guess, giving strelok the one/3 documents - I got only a little gauss ammo which I never used anyway - won't change much. Vintar fully upgraded all the way. didn't even use the dragunov 2nd playthrough at all.

Then you did something wrong, because they're all in Jupiter.
One in the waterside tunnel under the Cement Factory, one in the Excavator, and one in bottom-right part of Jupiter factory area. You get location of all three by unlocking the UAV memory module(Top-left part of the map)
When you give all three to Strelok you get an achievement and few top tier artefacts. And mothra says gauss rifle rounds, so probably that... it doesn't affect the story in any way, though. It might make Strelok stronger/tougher during the last quest, though, at least that's what the achievement description leads me to believe.
Obviously? It's a quest, quests are there to do them... if you give him the artefacts he will give you Bubble(-4 rad) when you meet him again in Pripyat, which is a decent trade-off.

Either Stalker Suit, or the Clear Sky suit. Stalker Suit weights almost nothing and has +10kg upgrade, CNH3 is heavier and has no weight upgrade, but offers better and more balanced protection.
But then again, I never saw the Freedom suits, and it very well might be they blow both out of the water.
I really wouldn't bother with SEVA because it's been heavily nerfed in CoP. It has pitiful bulletproof/rupture protection(A huge problem in CoP because there are no +BP/rupture artefacts), but more importantly it has no NV, which is instant diqualification, at least for me. It really resembles a scientist suit more than the SEVA from SoC... but I guess if mothra runs around with Vintorez he doesn't care because all sniper rifles have the high contrast/NV scope upgrades.
On my fourth playthrough which I didn't finish because the game finally let me go after over two weeks of non-stop playing, I used Alpine(unique SIG P220 from Nimble) and Strelok's custom SIG 550. Other than .45 ammo shortages(Because I foolishly sold all I found before I got the P220) I found it to be a very good combination: .45 is great against mutants(even Bloodsuckers, I found myself killing them without even changing the mag), 5.45 is great against humans, both get all reliability upgrades on tiers 1 and 2, both have -weight upgrades, 550 gets the silencer, the grenade launcher and the NATO scope, which is so much better than the PSO one...
Sorry Groza, you're just underrepresented in this game :(
mothra on 9/12/2009 at 13:22
i use high-contrast + enemy detection on my vintorez. NV for sniper has too many downsides imo. and my suits are usually:
- stalker suit until I have money for the ? berilli ? PM-whatever ? it's the first suit different to the stalker one you can buy from owl. it has no artifact containers but much better bulletprotection. this one I keep until pripyat, where I go with my exo, get the tools first, do the hospital mission and come back to upgrade the exo with sprint. you need artifacts only for pripyat imo and even then not since exo is so powerful and you swim in meds. I could do most anomalies without much protection by using meds. I never bothered to use seva or the duty suit that much, I upgraded and compared them but they never left my personal stash. And I never got access to any freedom suits, 1st playthru I did all for Freedom and they didn't even take the monolith in. during the storeroom fight mission if you work for freedom, you still get the duty suit.
guns:
I just stay wait for a better ak47 which I never upgrade, in the meantime I just collect ammo for my lr300 (silenced and scoped, you get the nade launcher later) and vintar and upgrade them now and then. I leave all shotguns except striker vanilla. striker only reliability upgrades since you can't "miss" with a shotgun or you just use it wrong (e.g. for long distances)
in jupiter I use the lr300 and striker. in pripyat: lr300 for the nade launcher, vintar for long range, striker for short range and ..... rpg for, well, for having fun with either large groups of enemies or just one pesky big mutant, or just ..... because ... ;)
Koki, I agree that COP will burn me out soon since I exclusively permanently play it since I got it but (!) I already installed CS + SOC to replay all in succession:
* - Clear Sky (no mods besides ZRP and better textures, you can't help that game)
* - Shadow Of Chernobyl (wanted to use Complete2009 but it crashes instantly on Win7 64, so maybe LURK or just arsenal mod + mutant mods)
* - Priboi Story (SOC mod with storyline after main game and somehow before COP)
* - Call Of Pripyat (no interesting mods yet besides vision distance)

I have fully upgraded exo and vintar, lots of money, all Strielok documents (is there any use for his gun later?) and gauss rifle. I guess it's time to explore Pripyat.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where to find the gun you're talking about. Lr300? What is it? I suppose SIG500 and Alpine can be found in Pripyat. But lr300? I also have not seen this 'Striker' shotgun. Perhaps it has some strange name in Polish version... I must be blind, or missing something obvious. :(
mothra on 9/12/2009 at 21:46
yeah, i get confused too because names and locations are different in russian, german and english, it's rather stupid I think. the striker shotgun is the one with the tommygun-like barrel and having 12 shots. you can mount the nato-scope on it (which I did not use) and makes toast of a controller with all shots on master. burers need a little warming up with the splinternades. have fun in pripyat :)

Hmmm... In that case I haven't found such shotgun yet. Where did you get it? And what is lr300? :)

I've just found all documents in the laboratory. Ufff... Scary place. (I guess I should give these docs to someone, but right now I don't know who might want them.)

That's why you always should play with real weapon names mod...

Errr, no. Alpine has to be ordered from Nimble. The custom SIG550 "Arrow" is Strelok's gun you already found. And no, he doesn't take it, sadly, not even when you drop it at him.
The Protecta(Armsel Striker, though not really Striker, since Protecta is the upgraded version) can be found in a few places, most notably in a stash just next to the documents in Jupiter Factory the scientists send you for(The ones which make mercs appear when you pick them). I never used it, because I preferred the Predator, custom Winchester 1200 you get for killing the second Chimera, and then I stopped using shotguns alltogether. They're too heavy and so is the ammo.

[Edit]By the way, can someone unpack and send me all the weapon ltx files and outfit.ltx and upgrades.ltx?
mothra on 10/12/2009 at 11:21
I took it off some enemies (hostage mission janov station I think) AND then found it in the administration building you pick up one document that then spawns the mercenary ambush. it's in the desk right next to the docs that's overturned. I love it and never have carry problems so I took it gladly, something so satisfying when killing a mutant up close. human enemies I like to snipe from a distance, but mutants are shotgun time.

Are there any other possible achievements (excluding Friend of Freedom)?
The game is really great. I haven't had so much fun since... SoC. It could be even better than SoC, but I was missing this terryfing atmosphere from the first game. And I would really like to see nuclear plant once again. Pripyat (the final map) was rather disappointing (with the exception of the laboratory). Not much to do there. I was hoping for some epic quests etc. after it took me so much effort to reach this town. They could make better use of this huge and nice looking space (more basements, sewers, secret areas, anomalies, quests etc.). It seemed that this part of the game was rushed, because Zaton and Jonov were soooo great!
I also did not like "real time events". They look bad and break the immersion.
My favourite set of quests was the one connedted with the scientist (scanners, escorting etc.). The quest about Duty founder history was especially remarkable.
I watched the ending, reloaded and decided to stay there. :)

If they survive they help you a bit in Pripyat :) Another cool little thing.
Unfortunately, all my comrades died in the tunnel. Could you tell how and when they would help me later? BTW, is there a way to get in the tunnel again?
