So it seems polish version of CoP not only uses Starforce, it also has limited activation count.

Scratch what I wrote or rather whined about before!
Ok I still find the zone not as fascinating as in SoC in terms of design. BUT only after about 15h gameplay I thought of paying a visit to the scientists bunker close to Janov Station. Geeez should have done this way earlier. It kinda gave a structure (no better english word comes to mind) to the game, to the zone, to the folks, to everything. Set up the scanners, travel with groups, talk about nerdy science stuff, this is great. It feels like SoC's first hour stretched into a biggie game. Now I know what they meant by "this is the game SoC wanted to be".
Jupiter factory's emptiness may have been a letdown, not because it's not actiongamey stacked with monsters (please no!), but because my uneasiness left with the experience. Well except for the third time I had to go. Ha, surprise!
I only peeked yet into Prypiat, meaning I only left the tunnel and this is already promising.
This is a brilliant game. BRILLIANT AWESOME YES THANK YOU.
Though there seems to be a hidden loot bug. Sometimes I just can't pick up all of it and there's a rock formation you have to crawl under but cannot get out again?

You will only realize how truly brilliant it is when playing it again. For example the tunnel section - on my first playthrough, I just got the soldier. On my second, I also had Rogue and Vano, and both were more than just additional walking guns - Rogue takes out the snipers in the big hall and Vano shows you the way through anomaly fields. And makes funny comments, he's great combined with that grumpy co-pilot guy, it's basically "Echo! Echooo!" vs. "We're all gonna die!".

Only loot bug I remember is that sometimes NPC's weapons get stuck in the ground and you can't pick them up. Stash-wise, everything can be grabbed. Maybe you need to do a low-crouch, it doesn't have a separate button this time, you need to press crouch and walk buttons simultaneously.

I had two buddies. Vano and eh... Gardi or something. Yes Vano showed the way through with silly comments. But sadly both didn't make it to the end. Will try again later.

If they survive they help you a bit in Pripyat :) Another cool little thing.

Well, the proper way to play it is to not pick up any weapons/ammo from the field anyway. Buy, do quests, search for caches. Otherwise there's abundance of money/weapons, they kinda lose their worth.
Koki on 27/11/2009 at 16:03
Oh, I never pick up weapons. Because... they're too heavy and usually in too bad condition to sell anyway. :p
I always unload them though. I figure ~80% of money I have in the game comes from selling ammo and grenades.
snauty on 27/11/2009 at 16:51
Me too I unload looted guns. I don't see anything improper in picking up stuff. It's a game feature. Careless stalkers litter, so recycle at least a bit.

btw where's the entrance to the cooling tower north west of the janov station? spent hours hopping around it...
