Thank you Koki, after reading this I think I'll be getting the russian version and the english patch.
@Mothra
Didn't have the possibility to turn off the sun shafts specifically in the benchmark, so I'll be sure to try to fiddle with dx9/dx10 options in the game (which kind of defeats the point of a benchmark in a first place :/) to see whether the large drop in dx10 performance comes exclusively from god rays on my system.
BTW, during the benchmark the only difference I could notice was in wet surfaces. And of course AA. Not enough to justify dropping below 20 fps when I get 40+ using dx9 without the 2xAA.

:cheeky: Yes of course!

I did notice that in some of his comments on the forums. Anyway, even if I'm mistaken, AG clearly doesn't like Stalker.
PS: Actually, I mixed up the reviewer and other guy.

you can in the game itself. I just did put everything on max and then gradually lowered / removed it. I disabled volumetric fog(cpu hog), sunshafts, turned off ssao and "better water". I left the wet surfaces, volumetric lightning, sunshadow(high), smooth particles on and could slide objects/textures/distance to max and retain 70fps in rooms, 30-60fps outside. It's perfectly playable like this. btw, dx10 looks for me to handle dark shades better, meaning they show more contrast for me than in dx9 mode.

I didn't do any of the artifact quests by Beard since they don't give you any location (like Dredger), it just says "get artifact a, b or c". there was never any special location mentioned.......and the artifacts do change sometime if you ask him many times without taking any quest. Maybe this comes later ?
like I said, I only "finished" zaton and just arrived at zankov station.
or wait, do you mean the very first ever artifact mission ? where you get the wheel from the old ship ? this one I did.

Yeah, that one. I was just curious how did it turn out because it comes with a twist :cheeky:

after exiting the ship the stalker asked me for the artifact (my friend is so sick....yes, yes, of course....) and I told him no. after he said something like "you will regret this" I decided to shoot him right away. then 2 friends of him opened fire (I assume they have already been laying in ambush) which I desposed of with a splinter grenade. Mission completed :)

Mission completed :)
Yep, and you lost a number of quests ;)

Holy shit, really? I always capped him too. But I felt I was doing it wrong, because it's such a hard firefight, especially on Master.
Well that's a good reason to replay the game for the third time.

thx for the info, a friend asked me exactly the same today (he did not fight them) but I'm good for now, another thing to look forward to later :)
