bitComposer seems to be the global publisher, outside of the ex-Soviet bloc. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the DEUTSCH release had an English option, although it's unlikely given delayed release date everywhere else.

Yep, that's what I thought....
The "complete german" version of SoC had an english option, despite not stating so on the cover. Then again, I just decided that german would be ok for me here. Usually german synchros are apalling. But if the ukrainian developers themselves did it again with their russian accent as in CS, I guess it'll suit the atmosphere just as well.

the german version has NO english option. only german localization. I have the german collectors edition and there's no way, I opened all pak-files and checked every folder. That's because there is NO english translation (official one) as of yet. Bitcomposer is a small publisher therefore they did not translate the game into every language at once, they do it one after the other. Hence the late release date for the english speaking countries. Be patient, the wait will not be in vain. Call of Pripyat delivers, at least for me.

I had a nice 6 hour STALKER session yesterday and COP really gave me back that good old SOC feeling. Even more so, I would say atmosphere-wise and mission/gameplay-wise COP is better than SOC in its vanilla version. What I cannot see yet (and maybe will not) is a good main story buried under all of the zonelife. sidemission, emissions, travelling, artifact-hunting takes up most of my time and the "go there - check helicopter" main quests were a little boring except 2 crashsites with moving anomalies (very cool). But the dialogues, missions and way the zone "behaves" is excellent. There is less clutter, only patrols of 2, max 4 guys going around. more activity after blowouts and having to hide from emissions adds another layer of excitement.
I had to get some documents out of a merc base, it was easy to get in via a pipe but when inside I would have been totally exposed. So I took potshots from afar, lured them out and then ran in from behind, scaled the pipe, wanted to exit inside the base but ... ooops, the strongest exoskeleton guy was guarding the documents. So I crouched in my pipe, threw out the splinter frag nade and .... a blowout started. Ok, no time to fight 3 guys, so just back through the pipe out in the open and dash for the next bunker (which was just a few pipes submerged in the ground under the merc base).
There I hid and waited. But I could hear that some mercs were approaching, maybe trying to hide as well ? So I lay in wait, hearing their footsteps drawing closer. I disabled my light and it was pitchdark in the tunnel between the emission waves. But they just never came up to my spot, I heard some shouting and then even shooting but nobody came. After the emission stopped I slowly moved forward to find 3 dead merc bodies at the entrance of the pipe. A little further away I could make out some feet of a dead body, the rest obstructed by the building.
Suddenly the feet moved, jerked and disappeared behind the building PERFECTLY synced to the starting howling of a group of dogs. I can tell you I really jumped in this moment......it was beautiful: 2 bloodsuckers have followed the mercs and killed them a the pipe entrance, 1 was shot inside, the other was just happily sucking away at a corpse when I met him. The rest of the tale was named shotgun :ebil:
a lot of other random, glorious things happened, all enhanced by streaming rain, roaring thunder, lightning, chimeras, bloodsuckers, snorks, crazy drunk russian mechanics and pseudo-dog lovers. GSC managed to give the zone back its character, I missed roaming around a large space with possible dangers around every corner.
btw, i play on veteran. makes some difference if a direct shotgun blast or 2 hits from a bloodsucker kill you instantly. And keep in mind all of the above only happened in Zaton, the first "area". So 2 more of same size to go, much more helicopters to check out and much more sidemissions to tackle :)
life is "good" in the zone

So I finished the game twice and you didn't even get out of Creek yet? You need less life bro.
Game difficulty doesn't affect enemy HP from what I've observed(THANK GOD), only damage. I recommend everyone who played a STALKER game before to play on Master right off the bat, it is only fair for one Bloodsucker swipe to take 4/5th of your health with Sunrise on.
Did you do the Dredger quest yet?

Well, you were wrong. Polish edition of CoP will have (

Now that some of you have finished the game, I'd like to know one thing (without spoilers of course). SoC had a TERRIBLE final part of the game, boring, repetetive and not fun at all (along with a teleport nonsense). CS had a terrible ending too, mindless running and shooting Strelok (not even counting Limansk). Is CoP any better in that department? Is there better final?
bukary, that would be beyond awesome! I hope it's true.

I can definitely go with that. English VO and unofficial translation patch will essentially give me 100% english game. Which is pretty fucked up considering UK/USA needs to wait till Q1 2010 to play, lol.
Now the only variable is the DRM.
