Pseudogiants are really dangerous now. I think I spent 150x5.56 to kill one, and the thing was already bitten by a swarm of dogs he killed before (it was funny to watch, poor stupid dogs)

nades + shotgun > pseudogiant
it was the same for me in SOC where I first tried it with the GP-whatever. then I just went back up, got the RPG, fired a shot in the general direction (don't think I hit it head-on) and did a dance around the area. when I replayed SOC (many times) I just used shotty and nades, did the trick all the time.
you are right, animals ARE much harder in COP, I love it, so this time I had to use much more ammo/nades on him, but nowhere near 150. what difficulty are you playing on ? I did on the one above STALKER

It's the next-to-last difficulty, I think it's the same as yours - above Stalker. Maybe lesser than 150, but I know that I reloaded my FT2000
at least 3 times, and I think it was 4 actually. Few bullets missed the target though, but not many.

So it seems like COP is the first game to really benefit from 64bit systems. I installed Windows 7 and it looks prettier and runs smoother.
It still doesn't look as good as some of the screenshots on nvnews though. What's up with that? Apparently there are some tweaks and mods to make it look way better, but it's all kept under wrap like some sort of state secret.

vision distance mod has been posted in this thread. apart from that you have to check out forums like guru3d where the tech-nuts show off their different user.ltx files. with this file alone you can totally change the STALKER experience. AND of course, CallOfPripyat supports DX11 now, so if you don't have a new ATI card capable of it, it will never look as good as in the screenshots.
