In tongue of us common people : Parallax Mapping.

Hmm.. I didn't actually play Clear Sky, despite loving SoC, because it sounded like they'd made too many obvious design gaffes again. They seem a haphazard bunch, GSC.
Still, as ever I'm hopeful for whenever this comes out. Dynamic level loading will be a godsend as well, the stuttering in SoC was absolutely shite -- even with 4 gigs of ram. They could take a lesson from the F3 iteration of the gamebryo engine in that corner of the performance department. Then again, at least XRay had shadows.

You tried -noprefetch?

Yeah, also tried modifying the prefetch file to include more sensible stuff. The game still turned into a slideshow from time to time while my hard drive thrashed itself to pieces.
It's not a very old hard drive, either, but I did buy it for silence over speed.

Do I detect a hint of Rik Mayall in that post?

You can see even from the Crysis demo and the modified maps people released that Cryengine stutters as well when it has to cache enough stuff (and not a lot more than was already there, which wasn't much. I don't know how much more crowded it gets later on).
Something tells me that dynamic loading/streaming was what held the SoC release back for a year or two (ie, not getting it to work). If they really really badly want to have it they might have to change, but they could save some monay and stick with Xray as far as I'm concerned.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Stalker has better lighting than Crysis. This, of course, doesn't mean that Cryengine can't be made to do Stalker-ish light.

Yes.

I personally don't believe in Stalker on a foreign engine. If they won't create a new specifically crafted engine for Stalker 2, I'm somehow sure the new game will suck.

Are you thinking of that from a technical standpoint or is it just a random hunch? ;)
