I'll keep an eye out for those. One of the things I like about this game is it's so free and open to choose quests or not or play it in so many ways.

I seem to have an active effect Drain Strength then a little caption 'disease wither' and also Drain endurance. Presumably these are active on me somehow. @ (
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Disease) it has wither listed. Against that it has links to Drain Strength & Endurance. These go to...
Drain Attribute M points for D seconds
"Temporarily reduce the value of the target's given Attribute by M points. The effect lasts for D seconds, after which the damage disappears. Restore Attribute will not heal drained damage; Dispel may work."
Which seems to contradict itself. Starts by saying it's temporary and disappears. Then says restore will not heal - as if it is permanent. Then it gives 'Dispel' whatever that means.
The page continues to describe ways to get this drain almost like its a good thing that you want to try to get and maybe use on others. I see nothing further to get rid of this disease if you have it yourself.
I found a chapel but I have to make pilgrimages but don't know where yet. So looks like I might just have to accept the loss and leave those zombies alone for now until I can find a cure disease potion or come across a pilgrimage target.

Try visiting a random wayshrine. As long as your fame is greater than your infamy, they should cast cure disease on you along with a healing spell and another spell effect (which depends on the type of wayshrine you visit).
Also, this pilgrimage you mention: have you got Knights of the Nine installed at all?
Fidcal on 17/9/2008 at 16:40
No - and I don't recall seeing any wayshrines on my travels.

Then it's probably not the pilgrimage that asks you to visit one of each type of wayshrine. Hmm. I'm surprised you haven't seen one yet though - there are quite a few of them about the place. Where exactly are you at the moment?

Bruma, but I'm in-between quests so I can quickly go to Imperial or Skyngrad areas.

with diseases it's permanent be it Drain or Damage. it was refering to spells in those links. and yes, restore is only for healing NOT getting rid of effects. that's why the Dispel effect is listed there, because that takes care of the negative effects. but you have a disease which is different than a spell effect.
you can always brew your own cure disease potion, even at basic alchemy. all you need is a mortar and pestle, the basic tool and Mandrake roots which have the cure disease effect the first one in line so you can use it.
you can find mandrakes usually near Bravil I think.

If you would like to visit a wayshrine, there's one almost directly south of Bruma, on the Orange Road that leads to Chorrol.

OK, thanks. I'll check out the mandrake. But first I did a google and found raw mandrake also works and it says its available at The Main Ingredient in Imperial. I'll check there first, otherwise I'll head for Bravil.
I'm assuming this disease is not continuing to drain more strength but just keeping it reduced by 5 continuously until cured.
Basically I just want to understand this so I can get back and wipe out those zombies. For all I know there could be ten of them and each give me a disease each reducing my strength another 5 until I reach zero. Or maybe, if they can only give me the disease once I might as well go back to them first and then after go and get the mandrake.

Thanks, might try that first.
