Is there anything in all Tamriel that can match the amusement of proudly marching around town with that staff, closely followed by those completely useless scamps? The only thing they ever attack is you, if you hit em with a less-than-lethal attack, but they were perfect for leveling up. I know you can stand in a corner and shoot the walls with fire until your magic skills max out, but toasting those little bastards was so much more fun. Also, I didn't keep the 'enemies leveling with you' thing in mind, and I used only the bow until level 30, so they were VERY helpful in leveling up my hand-to-hand. That must've been a sight for those Skingrad squares... If not for their incessant sniffling, I would never have gotten rid of that thing. Oh, and I never had a problem with the tough enemies in the game, even in the gates, as I pick them off one at a time from afar and quicksave every 12 seconds.

The scamps're handy for charging up soul gems too. I've even been able to get them to fight for me on a few occasions (for about 5 seconds before they get killed).

Notch up the difficulty slider?

I never mess with the difficulty slider. There not pushovers, I just do it intelligently. It should be mentioned that I found the 'Cuirass of the Spy' early in the game, which gives you constant 20% Chameleon, which in my opinion is as good as 100%, I'm an Imperial monk (with green hair) so my sneak was quite high when I started hopping around in Oblivion Planes. Now I'm pretty much invincible. Conjuration's maxed, so I sneak attack with arrows while the Clannfear or worse is smackin them around. With Chameleon enemies are real good at forgetting where you are. "He was here a second ago..."

I'm not quite sure cheating the game by quicksaving every 12 seconds is really approaching combat in an intelligent way...

Ever since playing JK2, I've sort of tongue-in-cheek ly explained away quicksaves in pseudo logical ways. For example, in JK2 I quicksaved, and if I died it was just a jedi vision. Another example: In Half-Life 2, Gordon Freeman was just calculating probability.
