1. Legally no, in fact all of what EA has done is illegal, Fair use rights cover *any* free mods, even if they directly take copyrighted content as long as they can demonstrate educational use and make no profit directly. In real life of course no single person could possibly afford the legal procedure you would have to go through to fight a corporation like EA, but what they are doing *IS* against the law. EA thus has the ability to make up the rules as they go along, and are likely to try to keep the bar raised as high as possible
2. Your screen resolution might be too low to see this, but all of his lines and paragraphs cut off at an arbitrary point for no reason. Very annoying esp if the rest of the posts are correctly fit on the screen
Maybe they are against the use of System Shock in the mod name? Maybe name the mod Syst3m Sh0ck? (seriously, that might work)
I´m using 1024 x 768 and I can´t see a problem with his use of short lines.

Well i wouldnt have used the same stuff anyways...not even the textures.(256x256pix Shocked vs max 2048x2048 pix in Ued).
I think Companies cannot really do much about a MOD that just uses a
Idea of the Gameplay
If that's what you're doing, then you shouldn't have any problem, and I'd urge you to go for it. It would be a good way to draw the attention of Unreal players to SS2.

That might work, but I can just see an EA employing finding that, laughing for about two seconds, then calling the C&D police. :erg:

If that face was green it would be perfect.

I keep getting a "Cannot find server" error over here.....

Theabyss, you could put try to put together a team and start a mod like this, but there is a D3 engine based Shock 2-like TC in the works. But the screenshots of the current one look promising, maybe you could assist them rather than starting a new mod since D3 engine is more powerful than UE2.5.

Unreal 3 is coming out presumably within 6 months and will blow the pants off Doom 3.

Yes, but D3 engine is still more powerful than v2.5 of UEngine. ;)
So if I could do anything to help, I´d rather help out with a D3 TC rather than start a new mod on a less powerful engine.

Converting from UE 2.5 to UE 3.0 would not be difficult. The mod will not be finished inside of 6 months. And Doom 3 has a small modding community on account of the fact that many people don't like the game. Every incarnation of the Unreal engine, on the other hand, is used to make 20-30 retail games, which gives it a much larger community.
