Hi! Nice forum, have been trying for ages to get sshock2 to work with my comp. Well, now the game works, cutscenes works, except for one thing.
I can do basic training okay, but when i get to the room where you choose career, the game either crashes or usually just freezes with a black screen.
Any suggestions? For those who has everything working, is it a cutscene supposed to play there that maybe makes it lock up? Any ideas welcome..
I am running on win XP sp 2, i have hyperthreading but fixed that one problem. Apart from this, the game works but i cant get past this point :(
Please help!

Yeah, I believe a cutscene is supposed to play. From the main menu click the Intro button. If the intro plays then I'm stumped, if not try the movie fixes from the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75031#movies) Thief FAQ. The engine is basically the same and the movie format is identical, so they apply to Shock2 as well. :)

Yeah, well when i click the Intro button in main, the cutscene DO play. Also it plays when i start the game, so its just this particular cutscene im having problems with. Ill look at the thief stuff, but is there a way to stop the cutscenes again so they wont play? As long as i get the game im happy :)

Just installed sshock2 on an older computer, and i noticed when you start the game it plays irrationals intro vid too.
Now, these small intro video is NOT played on my own computer. So maybe there still something wrong with the drivers? Ill dig around and try video codec fixing, if anyone has any more bright ideas, please let me know!
Thankyou very much.

Are you sure? That movie only plays once, and that's when you run the game for the first time. After that, it won't play anymore unless you remove the skip_intro line from cam.cfg and make cam.cfg read-only.
Have you tried copying th cutscenes off of the CD and pasting them into your cutscene folder? The movie may have gotten messed-up in the installation process.

Let's see if the cutscenes actually are the problem, so go to the folder where you installed the game and move/rename/delete the 'cutscenes' folder. If that doesn't fix anything, then the video codecs are fine.
But while you are in the SS2 folder, do you see a folder in there called 'current'? If no, then create it and see what happens.
