This is actually good news. We will get another SS game - and there is always a (tiny little) chance they won't screw this up. :)

Buh-bye System Shock, and hello drastic feeling of egging EA buildings for when they screw this up.

The probability of EA getting it right is too small for bc(1) to express.
If by some hideous perversion of the laws of space and time they actually produce something good - and provide the series with closure rather than, as is their standard MO, releasing 65,535 overpriced expansion packs - I will rejoice. But until then I remain skeptical.

You people kill me. For years, people here have been clamoring for SS3. Now, that you are finally getting it, everyone is pissing and moaning. Myself, I'll keep an open mind. Who knows, it might actually be good. :thumb:

EA making a complex game; it just doesn't sound right. :erm:
But I'll keep an open mind too, you never know if something good ever comes from EA one day.

I believe it when they say EA may be trying this to get some of the mature, critical gamers not to hate them so much, and sort of clean up their reputation as churning out mindless drone games. But even more I believe Ken's intuition that they don't really care about the game itself per se, just as a means to this sort of end.
I don't want to make a prediction what direction they'll take it, though, because apparently there is shifting ground going on at EA, so experience may not be the best guide.

i can see it now. in SYSTEM SHOCK: ROCK THE SHOCK, the revolutionary third person shooter exclusively for the 360, you'll play as SHODAN, a large-breasted, scantily clad technoheroine who packs as much attitude as she does ammunition, and has excellent reflexes as the obligatory snowboarding level proves. serving as a helping hand would be an out of control technocop who plays by his own rules.
i'm just going to perform ritual self-immolation now.
