Well, the number did look widescreeny. ;)
So the best thing for you would be 1280 x 1024? (odd why the game supports it, since it isn't 4:3)

I should've guessed that from my housemate's 22" LCD being 1680x1050... Ah well, score 0 for lazy maths on my part.
