So you thought you'd give it back by connecting resolution with size, ya?
Bjossi on 7/3/2007 at 16:44
Well, if you can find a 15" LCD that has 1600 x 1200 as native resolution, let me know. ;):p

Ah. I'm sorry :)
I guess I just think of 15" LCDs as being old. Mostly due to my experiences in building an LCD+OHP projector 'on the cheap'. It was fun but the compaq LCD screen we had must've had a response time that could be measured in the seconds rather than miliseconds.

Seconds? Ouch. :p
Mine is 12 ms if I remember correctly, I see slight ghosting when in Windows but it seems to get less noticable in games. I like small monitors because I'm so nearsighted and need to be close to the monitor. :)

You see ghosting in Windows?!
That's pretty crazy :)

But as far as I know there is no way to run SS2 properly windowed without modifying the game's code (yes, in it's compiled form).
You can run it windowed via ShockEd, but unfortunately only in software rendering, which does not work very well. (This is a major understatement.)

Widescreen LCDs for the lose, since the game supports 1600 x 1200.

And 1280x1024...
And 1024x768 for the really old LCDs.
But not, unfortunately, 1400x1050. :(

My laptop's 14.1" has 1400x1050. Do I win something? ;)
Bjossi on 7/3/2007 at 21:39
You win a cyber-cookie.

Yeah, if I move the pointer quickly. :p

Indeed. Damn it's seeming lack of widescreen support :*(
Bjossi on 8/3/2007 at 00:18
I can understand older games like SS2, but even modern games lack decent support for it. :erm:
Well, at least the widescreen settings are often hard to reach for the average user.

1400x1050 isn't widescreen. It's 4:3 aspect ratio.
