I am in the bad lower end of the nvidia cards, GF6200.
Consciously bought something in the 6xxx range to play some more dark engine games.
It works, but is not very efficient in thief 3.

The game will look awful on a GeForce 8 series card. They don't dither 16-bit color right and you get a ton of color banding. It looks awful.
As for what can run it if you mod it all out. Well anything with a 1 GHz or faster CPU and a DX6 video card. A Voodoo5 + P3 1GHz will run it fine. If you use Win98, you can get it to work a lot easier too.

Holy shit, that thing must be ancient. Got pics? I'd love to see what it looks like.

I own a computer made in 2001. However, in December of 2005 I upgraded my Video Card to an ATI Radeon 9550 (and the only reason I switched is because I fried my Hard Drive and I decided if I were going to spend the money on getting a new hard drive, i might as well get a better video card while I'm at it). Before that, my video card was a really old GeForce (i dont even remember what it really was). Anyway, the "really old GeForce" allowed both Thief and SS2 to run...so no one should have any problem running it...if there computer was built from 1996/1997/1998 onward.
So you shouldn't be worried about the SS2 2007 system requirements.
Peace,

Aw crap! I upgraded to a 8800GTS for Bioshock, Crysis etc but I won't be able to play SS2 with it? Luckily I still have my 6600 lying around.
Edit: Is it possible to install both cards and swap em around (driver wise) as I need them?

It all depends on how many PCI-E slots you have.
You can create hardware profiles that you can change at boot. Kinda like a dual boot system.
Just create a second profile.
In your main profile keep the 8800 enabled. In your second profile disable the 8800 and enable the 6600.
Of course thats if your motherboard supports both cards at the same time

I'm pretty sure you can swap the cards in window's display properties. This might not need a restart. Worth a try anyway.

Yeah I've got a few PCI-E slots and my motherboard is an ASUS P5N32-E SLI one. So do you reckon I should give it a go? I'll try your idea too Koyla.

Yeah, it should work without messing around with profiles.
You just need to make sure you set which one is the main display before you start the games

My wimpy oem 8300 has no problems with SS2. Dual core was another matter.
