The PC Gamer web site republished an article from the UK magazine about SS2.

Nice read. But I lambasted them a bit for not mentioning mods, in the comments. If the whole point of these retrospective articles is to encourage people to play or replay a game today, then it would be helpful to their readers to mention things like SS2Tool, widescreen, SHTUP, etc.
Every time an article for a classic game appears, we get the inevitable "but how can I get it to install and work now" questions. At least make people aware of the mods' existence. Then let the readers decide for themselves whether they want to play vanilla or not.

Someone should comment in its comment box about the mods and stuff. How about contacting the article author? :)

Well, I did mention the mods in the comments. And someone else did, too. :D
Sadly, the few magazines left don't really seem to care about mods any more. Not unless they're some huge production like Black Mesa. Otherwise, they can't be bothered. I remember a time when they used to report all kinds of mods, though. From the smallest to the largest.
It's a shame, because certain ones can really improve or enhance a game even if they're not big productions. Or in the case of SS2, even help to get it installed and running in the first place.

Bummer. You guys need to spread the words. ;) Are these SS2 mods on moddb too?
