Is this possible?
I just discovered SS2 and it looks pretty awesome. I'm thinking about asking for it for Christmas, but I don't want to get it and then have it not work on Windows 7 . . .
(Also please note that I am fairly new to the gaming world, so I may have overlooked some seemingly obvious solution...)

Yes, many people run SS2 on Win7.

Some minor technical knowledge might be required, eg to know how to run a program as admin, but if you have any problems, I'll do my best to help you.
So you definitely should get the game for Christmas, it's well worth it.
