Because the other implants aren't really implanted but just stuck into a socket of that first one called the cyber implant or cyber rig.

The whole business with access cards is entirely screwed up on the Von Braun. Why is the deck 5 crew area locked? And more importantly, why the hell is there only one keycard for it in the entire game (and for every other lock for that matter)? Realistically you should be able to find another on a random corpse or hybrid. Maybe the many have been gathering up all the keycards to hamper any resistance but then why not just break/block the doors or have Xerxes keep them closed?

Say the Von Braun has a security lockdown feature which restricts access between sections if there's a hostile presence on board. Certain people would be given access cards to override this lockdown. I'm sure under normal, more peaceful circumstances the crew sections for both decks 2 and 5 would be open to everyone, but someone high up hit the shipwide panic button. I agree that realistically there would've been a few more than one card per section on the entire ship, but sometimes effective gameplay requires a sacrifice of reality.

Well then, TriOptimum keycards must be a lot easier to digest than unopened bags of chips.

Well duh, they're made out of candy.
From strings.crf
TriOptimum fabricated the access cards of the Von Braun out of microchip sugar wafers and hardened cake frosting; in the unlikely event that hostile forces attempted to take over the ship, crewmembers could devour the cards to deny access to the invaders. Fortunately it seems that the bearer of this card was killed before they were able to dispose of it in this fashion.

Another thing: how is it that walking too close to an egg sets it off and yet you can stand a few feet away and pull a organ out of it without any trouble?

*sigh*
If ESpark shows up now it's your fault.
