Catbarf, ya never know where crazy AIs might be around the corner.

It all makes sense when you factor in the sheer indestructibility of Von Braun's internal structure.
Also the designers of the ship watched Event Horizon and foresaw the need for putting copious numbers of weapons on the ship.

A: What is this second barrel for?
B: How do you fire this seeing as it has no trigger? Also, how do you hold it? The pistol grip is on backwards (though this would be a handy feature when The Many come for you and you only have one charge left).
C: No iron sights or any kind of targetting system! Just a big blue choppy thing.
D: How does this shotgun triple-shot? It doesn't even have two barrels much less three. Maybe AR stole its extra barrel?

Well, if we are gonna nitpick about the guns lets nitpick about the lifestyle on the VB.
100 Years in the future and all a data disk can hold is a single audio recording and a portrait of the crewmember that made it?
Why do the hypos have such a rediculously long needle when even today needles are so small?
What did the crewmembers use to wipe themselves? There is no paper in the bathrooms. Did the toilets use a water rinsing system to make you feel clean or what? Where are the doors to the bathrooms? They didn't care about privacy I guess.
Why are there only showers in the Mess Hall Crew Area and not anywhere else in the ship except the CEO's quarters? All those crew members need 3 showers for the men and 3 for the women? Also why are the showers all open showers even the ones in athletic didn't anyone have any privacy?
Why would someone need security access to enter the gym and pool area?
I would think they would need clearance for the Sim Units and Casino instead what gives?
Where are the children onboard the VB there is ever no mention of them and you never see any. If there are no children on the VB why is their a sign when you enter the casino that says Adult must escort child?
How did the guy in the Sim Unit room die? did he starve, smoke to much or did the bed electrocute him? or was it a combination of all 3? :)
If the guy purchased a Sim Unit card why is it not in the room? Does it blow up or self destruct after you use it? If he used it to get in the room should he not have it on his body or on the ground? maybe it was under the sheets =/
The entire crew's diet aboard the VB was:
Corn
Peas
Cereal
Chips
Orange juice
Soda
Vodka
Liquor
Champagne
(and unused in the game, popcorn)
Those are the foods that are shown in stock rooms, freezers, etc.
If you check the Dining Menu on deck 5 you can see they offer salads and desserts. Where are the ingredients for this food?
No wonder every man and woman was so thin, some were even thinner to the point of looking sick.
Also why did people throw away money, full bags of chips, full bottles of drinks etc.
Why are ciggarettes 2x larger than the box they supposidly come in?
Why does the UNN name appear on VB only on medical gurneys and personal satchels?
In the lounge with the piano where did they store all the drinks and glasses etc?
Why are the pool tables so tiny and the slot machines are so big?
Where did the crew on the rickenbacker sleep? in the medical bay?
Why is the movie theater using an old 1920's film projector and showing black and white movies? The movie poster says Brain Eaters is playing was that film originally in black and white?
In the Sim Unit room apparently their is no sign that says you must be 18+ so apparently anyone could go their and pay and get serviced lol. But I guess since the VB had no kids or teenagers that didnt matter anyway. You would think there would be a nursery of some kind onboard for any children that were born though.
None of the crew members quarters in the crew section on deck 5 had any personal touch to them. It looks like all crew members were given all standardized equipment to use. Were they not allowed to touch up their rooms for a personal style of living?
Where did people wash clothes? Did each crew member get one uniform or multiple ones to wear how did they clean them and where did they store everything? Those personal lockers are small and tiny and the desks have one cabinet. You can't store things anywhere.

Well in answer to one of your questions:

(

Okay so that could be a good indication that brain eaters was playing before the people in the theater got attacked. Would explain the old black and white countdown reel.
Why were they using an old film projector to show movies though? Maybe Triop went so over budget they couldn't afford Movie disks. If one audio log can hold only around 60 seconds of audio no wonder they were using the old film method instead of digital.

Maybe watching films in a theater is kind of a "retro" form of entertainment anyway, so they thought they might as well go the whole hog.

Another nitpick for the shotgun. Triple shot, double damage. Someone care to explain the logic behind this? :o
Assidragon on 4/11/2007 at 12:06
Inherent inaccuracy? Reduced firing power to lower the stress on the barrel?
Re: heavy weapons on the von braun: that's actually less of a problem than it first sounds. Background story in SS2 indicates that corporations do love blowing each other to bits as part of their economical manuevers (see: cola descriptions), and the Von Braun is practically forced to travel with a highly armed bunch of soldiers who they mutually hate each other with. Knowing that the CEO of TriOp is on the vessel, it makes sense for heavy armanents to be found. Better have a chance to blow up the ship than have no chance of defending yourself, don't you think? :)
But now that you mention it: the Fusion Cannon is kindof odd, too. I have doubts fusion is possible on so small scale, and even if it was, the strong magnetic barriers keeping the fusion in check would have really bad effects on the person holding it, all the people nearby, and the ship as well. A fusion reactor would also have to be working constantly, so it'd use up your ammo regardless if you are firing it or not. And... just WHAT does it fire anyway?
