B: How do you fire this seeing as it has no trigger? Also, how do you hold it? The pistol grip is on backwards (though this would be a handy feature when The Many come for you and you only have one charge left).
C: No iron sights or any kind of targetting system! Just a big blue choppy thing.
D: How does this shotgun triple-shot? It doesn't even have two barrels much less three. Maybe AR stole its extra barrel?

A- It's a grenade launcher, but them idiots forgot the grenades.
B- Design by UNN
C- Practice practice practice.... or just dumb luck
D- this one no idea...

A - I guess that was intended to be the piston (part of the gas-operated reloading mechanism in contemporary rifles - it seems rifles didn't get SO advanced, huh?). What's missing there (it should have something joining the main barrel) was probably left out to fit the thing into 150 polies. (Don't ask me why.) Then again the shape is a bit odd for that, but I can't imagine that being anything else.
B - TriOp perhaps was trying to break into the "suicidal mass" market segment? :cheeky:
C - An energy gun fitted with the most brilliant electronics and whatnot would probably feature something more sophisticated than an iron sight. Maybe a wifi device which is compactible with the HUD if you wear a military helmet - that's not a so big stretch.
D - a gun with electrically operated firing mechanism can fire bullets in rapid succession from the same barrel. See "Metal Storm". Of course, the entire concept of this is really against how shotguns work (metal storm achieves multi-fire effect by stacking projectiles into the barrel), but then again, this is TriOp we're talking about, it'd not be their first oddball design. :sweat:

Is there ejecting brass/shells in default SS2? I apologize for not being able to find this out myself.
Assidragon on 3/11/2007 at 13:25
Yeah, there is. They don't remain on the floor though, unless you get a modded gamesys.
Mercurius on 3/11/2007 at 13:32
Yes, they evaporate upon contact with the ground though...environmentally friendly :thumb:
@raph
Had to laugh at the UNN comment
@Assidragon
A - Plausible but for the fact that the piston thingger doesn't connect back to the firing action on the AR thanks to that concave handgrip...unless it takes a very indirect route to get there. Also it's a bit oversized...actually the barrel is a bit oversized too. Good size for firing nerf balls actually...
B - I think it must have been the indecisive suicidal market seeing as it lacks a trigger.
C - Definitely plausible and demonstrated ingame by Goggles' crosshair. However what about unaugmented personnel with no hats? Seems TriOp doesn't know about KISS :tsktsk:
D - Well it's a better explanation than quantum-state buckshot.

You do realize that you're looking at the laser backwards? You do, in fact, hold it that far forward.
Assidragon on 3/11/2007 at 19:18
How much did you ever use the laser pistol? :P

Admittedly, not much :erg:
Wait a second [checks google]... oops :eww:
Okay, the laser pistol design is officially FUBAR.
