Considering that you can easily end the game with several dozen repair tools in your inventory, you can't even make the argument that the degradation is unbalanced.
Not without getting laughed at, anyway.
It's not about what's right or wrong, it's user preference. Even Ken Levine has stated that he thought that the weapon degradation is something he would change. I did play the game vanilla to start with but after a while simply found it not as enjoyable as when I had made a few tweaks.
You're opinionated.

You're opinionated.
And you seem to have trouble remember your own posts:

I have turned off weapon degredation, which, IMO, was unrealistic,
not enough sense of balance. If you don't like weapon degradation, fine. It makes you less of a man, but hey, c'est la vie. But don't go trying to rationalize it. It's embarassing for everyone.

I don't need excuses and no, I haven't forgotten my posts either. Posting what I wrote earlier proves nothing. It's not about rationalizing it, that doesn't even come in to it anyway.

I like weapon degradation in all of it's vanilla slightly-over-the-top glory. It makes the game more interesting and tense. And like ZB has said, considering the resources available it isn't THAT tough to overcome. Even on impossible I end up with 20+ maintenance tools by the end.

Given everything we know about Ken's approach these days, statements like that only make me wonder just how much he could ruin SS2 if he was given the chance to "fix" it.
*edit*
...and for some reason as soon as I submitted that reply, I couldn't get the image of George Lucas out of my head.

Then stop making them.

I haven't made excuses, they are my preferences. Simple as that. There is no right or wrong. Not everyone who plays the game will opt for vanilla settings, some people won't like the game period. C'est la vie ...as you wrote. ;)
I guess love and hate are just the same sides of a different coin, a coin, I spent long, long ago.

Claiming that weapon degradation is "unrealistic, not enough sense of balance", is not a statement of preference.
ENGLISH, DO YOU SPEAK IT?

I no longer sympathize for you, and I hate nihilists.
Edit - Also, you made one run on, on sentence there.
