After a couple of months me and my cousin wanted to play SS2 again cause it's such a great game :D
But the happiness came to and end the moment we ran into a wall of problems.
Every time when we have got through the training and into the game itself, my cousin suddenly "disconnects" but he is on his own computer still in the game.
Shortly!
He disconnects only on my screen but keeps playing the game on his own screen like nothing happened.
Yeah, that's the problem were having.
Tried these:
MP patch = No difference
Patch = No difference
Removed LDVID.ax = No difference
Compability Mode = No difference
Any ideas?? We really want to play this again.....
PS
We use hamachi

I think this is identical to a problem I had. I don't entirely understand it, but the issue could be countered by saving immediately after the game finished loading into the Von Braun. I always kind of figured it was a desync issue caused by having a dual core system.

A few things are wrong here and before more newbie guessing occurs, let's set this straight:

1. There is no patch beside the MP patch. And you obviously had that already since you were, you know, playing MP, for however shortly.
2. Removing LGVID.AX only helps with cutscene problems. Completely unrelated to your MP connection problem.
3. Compatibility modes don't help at all, in fact they can break a working game.

If you have a dual core (or P4) system you need to apply the Hyper Threading Fix. Otherwise the game will freeze or CTD a few seconds in. Once you have applied said fix, it's of no more relevance. Certainly not for connection problems.
Tompelo also posted to SBF and since I don't want to repeat that, here is the (

A friend of mine and I tried to play today w/ and w/o Hamachi and it just wouldn't work. I opened up the ports listed in the Multiplayer guide and we tried our hamachi IPs as well as my outside IP (comcast cable IP) and it just said join failed.
I'm not sure if it's a firewall issue or not. Like most people with cable or DSL, we're both behind hardware router/firewalls as well as running windows with it's firewall. I don't mind turning off my windows firewall but I really don't want to have to DMZ myself if I don't have to.
Any other ideas?

Yeah, that's totally not the problem I had. Whenever we'd get out of basic and into the game, we'd completely desync within a few seconds for whatever strange reason. Every bit of the game up until then would work totally fine. If I immediately saved the moment we hit the von Braun (pausing alone doesn't fix it), the problem is averted.
When it's only one PC in particular as host that does this in a group of PCs and that particular PC is the only one with a dual core, what would you expect? If you're trying to tell me it's not directly because of the dual core CPU, I'd agree since this issue is apparently just that rare. However, in a confluence of various possible factors, dual core is what leaps to mind as the most obvious catalyst in some bizarre chain reaction.
