Before getting into the nitty gritty of my problem, I've looked through the forum here, the FAQ, and Kolya's fix list, and haven't found anything. I've done a few searches of TTLG too, none of which have turned up anything. If the solution is here, then for whatever reason I've not found it.
So, basically, some of my savegames (around about deck 5 I think this started) have begun loading with some of the text missing. Examples are:
All log message text (although not the sound)
About half the inventory item names. Including all weapons, med hypos, speed boosters, batteries, implants, the basketball and probably a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head.
All game names on the MFD player have been replaced with Test Game.
Most concerningly though is that any save made in this state has the location blank and crashes on loading. So basically once this happens I can't save.
First time this occurred was (I think) just before I entered the Deck 5 Crews Quarters. I loaded again a few times and eventually got a clean load, went through from there.
Now though I've just finished rummaging through the storage rooms on several of the other decks. I have a save on deck 3 just before I hit the elevator to go to deck 5 again, and it's happened again. This time I've reloaded it repeatedly to no avail.
Additionally when I load saves usually the bar gets to about 7/8ths complete, then jumps to full before loading fine. This time they stop closer to 3/5ths along, hangs for a bit, then loads. This, combined with the fact older saves seem to work fine, makes me think it's a corrupted save. But the fact it's not happened at all for most of the game, then twice in quick succession, has me curious. Not to mention the fact it uncorrupted itself first time around.
As a final note, I may or may not have rebooted between the unsuccessful and successful loads first time around. I need my PC on for a while longer so I haven't tried rebooting again yet, so that might help. I'll try that when I can, but until then if anyone's encountered this before and knows how to deal with it that would be awesome.

Any mods applied?
Sounds like a problem with the string files, though whether that alone would cause crashes I'm not sure. Probably worth recopying the original strings.crf off CD, and if using any mods try renaming the ..\strings folder to something obvious (eg stringsX) and or delete the folder and reapply any mods and see if that fixes it.
Any corrupted savegames are unlikely to be recoverable in any case.

Running both Rebirth and SHTUP. I'll give the Strings thing a shot.

Just a quick update, I rebooted and the hydro save has the text back. Apparently reboots fix this.
