I'm gonna guess it was coincidence.

No, I don't think so. A new robot is indeed sent to the location when you press that button. We used to have some fun in MP 'summoning' a maintenance bot like that just to annoy the other player(s).

Wow, I never knew that before. It could come in handy, elevator-crushing the robots and grab some maintenance tools and nanites.

No wonder I used to have such a hard time in the cargo bays. I used to press that button every time. Maintenance robots were horrifying for me because I usually was running low on armor-piercing bullets.

Just use the wrench. That's how I usually kill them :)
Bjossi on 27/7/2007 at 22:04
From my point of view, using the wrench is the only way. :p

I wrenched nearly all the bots in my just-completed PSI-based game. Of course, it usually hurt me a little bit too. But it was fun. :cheeky:

Hi,
That button is why i was so scared of the cargo bays, i pressed about 10 times! not doing that again.

I kinda like those, because if you take the OS skill that lets you salvage a health kit from them, you can get a 15 point (?) healing kit, that instantly restores those lost points. Really handy.
I also found that the seem to run out of bots eventually. I kept killing them by squashing them with one of the elevators, and after a while no more seemed to turn up.

Maybe the level maker saw it as a potential bot farming technique, and decided to put a limit.
