Thanks for the replies all. Some specifics;

Looking good. My only complaints would be with what you added that's not present in the original-- the scanlines on the text, and the horizontal stretching animation.
Also, the text in general seemed a little too tightly kerned, but I'd have to go back and compare to the originals to be sure.
Cheers. Thanks for the fonts btw (and the rest). The kerning varies from line to line so it's possibly a little tight here and there, give or take some compression bleeding. The scanlines; yeah, I couldn't really stand to see it quite so crisp as it was in its untouched form. I figure it's fairly harmlessly in keeping with the
Alien riff they seem to have going on there.
The scene card horizontal blurring business is pretty naff, I meant to get rid of that. I want to do
something there. Maybe just a subtle blur-out

That new cutscene was pretty awesome. And I didn't mind the small embellishments you made. The only thing that stuck out for me, as others have mentioned, is that the Goggles model didn't look too good.
Cool, thanks. The goggles model thing (and this is for everyone with reservations); as was mentioned, there's really nothing to be done about this. It's the best one we've got as far as I can see. I'd like to hear more about what people expect. It looks miles better than the old one.

Well done, my only grief is that I thought the animation on the worms could be smoother, but I'd be more than happy with this much effort put into the other cutscenes. Keep up the good work man, I can't wait to see what else you can do.
Cheers. yeah the worm animation isn't great; it took quite a few takes to get something tollerable. Unfortunately that's all I've got to work with. It's all they had to work with too, but making the picture clearer makes it more obvious that it's a bit stiff.

I figured it was something like that. The thing is, there are no scanline effects on any of the game's text, so it doesn't fit with SS2's visual aesthetic.

It might look better if the worms simply didn't move at all.

Someone with skill ought to help out Mercurius? (

Yes, I'm loving this model and I'm going to keep reminding people about its existence :)

Goggles really needs a completely new model...
A good point that was raised recently was why does he even have those external 'goggles' when his cyber-rig implant is wired straight into his brain?
I think it comes standard for grunts like him. I recall seeing one killing himself in a hallway, with the exact same "goggles."

Hokay, I've finished up a new one. This one is full length, so people can have a better squiz at goggles now (which probably won't go well). There's a few things still up in the air, some things I haven't adjusted yet and some obvious differences. Sometimes changes are out of necessity and sometimes it's me trying to be fancy. I'll say more as specific comments come up. Consider this a beta.

I haven't tried this link out yet. Hopefully you get a zip file of about 60megs. The clip is a 2m 30s xvid AVI. (the compression strategy isn't finalised yet either so it's a little big. Or maybe not; I dunno how big the average connection is these days). Give it a try.

Goggles' leg looks quite weird when he drops from the tube. It seems to hover in midair.
Apart from that it's looking great. :thumb:

Seconded. Some parts of his body too look disproportionate or pointy at certain angles but that's not related to how you put it all together.
Excellent job otherwise.

Cool, cheers. I don't know what to do about that leg exactly. It turns out I might even be able to change it all to action a lot closer to the original after all (provided the model actually works for it, which is actually unlikely given its current record), but it'd be a shame to lose that little extra drama.
Where does the model look weird or spiky to you? I think I managed to shoot or cut around most of its bad behaviour (most isn't all, of course). The hands were the worst and those fingers do still look a bit long at times.

Is this new video supposed to replace the old cs2.avi and be shown in-game? I tried to do that, but the game crashed when the video was about to be played.
