SS2 crahes while loading deck 3 on the rickenbakker..

My ss2 crashes while loading deck 3 of the rickenbakker. The game has run perfectly up untill this point ( with xp ) but when I try to go from deck 2 to deck 3 the loading screen pops up and when the loading has completed the game just shuts off and returns to the desktop. I have tried doing a search but I cant find anything that will help, so I was wondering if you guys could?

Hmm, sounds like that map file is corrupted. I don't know which file it is, so you'll have to wait for someone else to come along with more info. Alternatively, you could back up your savegames and configs, uninstall the game, then re-install and re-apply the patch.

It's your first time through the game then? Okay, well, firstly, make sure you're all patched up. If you have the EA Classics version of the game, your copy came patched, but if you have an original boxed copy, you'll need the patch.

The .mis file for the deck you've just reached is "rick3.mis", copy and pasting it from your CD couldn't hurt, although if this is happening for the first time on your first run through of the game, it may be buggered up. :eek:

But, I'd definitely check to make sure you're patched. It sounds alot like the game wants and tries to load something, but can't and a crash ensues.

Thanks for the reply's. The game is patched up fine and I tried copy/pasting rick3.mis from the cd but it still wont load, I think ill try a new rick3.mis file if I can find one from somewhere or at the worst buy a new cd. Cant go through enjoying the game for it to end at a loading screen.

SHTUP beta 5 I installed hoping for a fix after reading about the problem with deck 6.

Just out of interest, have you tried copying ALL of the ric .mis files? Sometimes, the numbers of the files don't correspond to the decks/etc in the way you'd expect (I've not tested the ric files, however).

Perhaps you could try dling Straylight's mod and using the .mis file from that?

Thankyou to all for the help :) . I replaced both rick2 and 3 mis files from straylight's mod, I dont know which one was causing the problem but it's working now and that's all that matters.
