I found the first of the little bastards. I killed it..... And I have been dying over and over ever since trying to nab its chip for the sim units. I went to Rec after so many tries, and haven't bothered to go back and check on the carcass of it since so.. I may or may not have destroyed the game. Either way, the issue is that there is a room with MASSIVE CRATES flying out of the ceiling. This wouldn't be a problem, if they weren't falling in such a way as to.. like, completely cut off the assassin carcass. I have no healing items (Actually had, I have a couple med hypos now. But I'm playing cat and mouse with a pair of cyborg assassins in a nightclub type area right now, so that probably won't last.) and I'm low on nanites. I have power armor and the strength to use it but it's not doing me a damned bit of good, since getting hit by a crate (not it's explosion, just the crate) seems to be an instant kill.
How the hell do I turn off the damned crate-throwing whatsit that is destroying my gameplay experience?

Just run towards the other end of the room, get in the corner, and wait for the crates to stop dropping. It isn't too hard to avoid them.

No, it's not hard to avoid them. The problem is, they never. Ever. Stop. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting, on one occasion. Then I ran in and got smeared out of sheer impatience.
But you say they should stop. Could be mod issues? :x

That IS weird. They should stop like 5 seconds after the assassin dies.
But you might just need to haul butt to the far corner of the room before the crates start dropping, if you can. He usually (or at least he does when I play) runs into that corner and you can tear him to pieces.
That won't help you too much on the trip back, though, if the crate dispenser isn't turning off....
So yeah, mod issues I guess.

They also fall when the security alarm is on. Does anyone know how to get up where they fall cause that elevator is destroyed?
Gwenaelle on 14/12/2007 at 01:21
The security alarm isn't on, but I hacked it after killing the assassin anyway. No dice.

That's probably it.

I'm going to trek back to Ops right now. Maybe the bulkheads stopped the crate throwing, if they did I'll post it here.

On my most recent (also first ever) playthrough I had entirely missed that triggered event, the crates were already on the floor and the red assassin was dead.
Another of the red assassins was frozen on the spot when I found it. I beat it to death with my wrench.
