I'm pretty sure I tried both versions. I remember using the link from the strangebedfellows posting which said it was the right one for 64 bit. But I'll try it again.

Well, the link you gave me for the fixed version worked, so I can't imagine which version I got that was supposed to also be the fixed one. Thanks! :D

That 64bit fixed DDFixGUI version is part of the latest SS2Tool, yes.

Great work on your part, Koyla. I'm just happy I can keep revisiting this great game.
I actually miss not being able to run SS1 on these newer systems.

I didn't even know about System Shock-Portable! This is awesome!

A word of warning, since you're running Windows 7: DOSBox will have graphical errors (incorrect, shifting palette colors) if the renderer is set to the default, 'surface'. To rectify this, open the dosbox.conf file and make sure the output=surface line under [sdl] is set to something else, like output=overlay or output=ddraw.
That issue isn't limited to just DOSBox, but rather seems to affect every program that relies on a 256 color palette. The other solution is to temporarily kill explorer.exe while playing (the taskbar seems to be the culprit), but that's rather drastic and unneeded for DOSBox.

I love you! :D
You just fixed Vivendi's re-release of King's Quest for me. I had to play 1-6 in a window because whenever I went fullscreen the palette got all screwed up. I changed the output to ddraw and it's fixed! Many thanks!

No luck for me. It just locks up at the cdshock.exe line at the DOS prompt. The DOS box goes into Not Responding mode.
