the_grip: Hmm 12 year olds must have advanced a huge amount since my generation :p.
Anyone spend ages seeing how long you could "fall" through 2 portals setup, 1 under the other? I did that for a fair while to try and get the achievement done, but gave up after a while.
Kolya: Most test chambers tend to look along the lines of the ones in portal. Even SS2 featured similar looking rooms in the training areas. I look forward to seeing what the community comes up with for custom levels.
If they can come up with puzzles along the difficulty level of 7th Guest or Alundra then I`ll be pleased with that.

Yup, did that and it took only about one minute. All you need is a very high room, so you have plenty of time realigning yourself with the lower portal if you're drifting off.
I did this in the room near the end of level 18, the fall you use for the first fling up the four platforms - both floor and ceiling are portal-able there, and it's one of the highest (safe) rooms available.

Ugh, I know base jumpers and they tell me you reach terminal velocity faster than 30,000 feet later. :/

The "Portal" game one Newgrounds is pretty fun too, but it's more of a thinking difficulty than a physical difficulty when compared to the original.

I just finished Portal about an hour ago. It did remind me of SHODAN in System Shock 2. :) SHODAN is cooler though.

Wow, I've been glancing through this thread, and it seems Kolya's reaction to Portal is a grade A example of why I try not to read a game's "reaction" thread on here before I've completed the actual game in question.
I'm pretty sure he would have enjoyed Portal a lot more if A: he hadn't gotten his hopes overly high beforehand, and B: he hadn't gotten into a argument with ZylonBane, which probably made him subconsciously decide to dislike the game more in order to justify himself against ZB's attacks.
I didn't know anyone's opinion beforehand, and found the game to be very entertaining. Not as good as SS2 mind you, but still one of the best games I've played in a while.

If you loved portal, then thats great.I did not care much for it.
Up until level 19 it seemed like a Children's game.Upon further research it IS based on a children's game called Narbacular Drop.

Now I am not saying children's games cannot be fun, because they can.I was not expecting portal to be like one.
If they eliminated levels 5-17 and extended level 19 when you get out of the test chamber and did not have all the repeated dialog,it would have been a much better game.Perhaps even gave you a health indicator and some type of weapon to take out turrets.Definitely could use some other test subjects hiding in there,or maybe finding a few dead test subjects, or dead people in the meeting rooms.
In my opinion, the only thing it had in common with System Shock 2 seemed to be some of the metallic textures of the rooms looked similar, and an insane AI.Other than that they seemed like totally different games.

It's not that you don't like the game for what it is, it's that you expect it to turn into HL2 somewhere early on.
