But does it add anything that would begin to allow the game to be on par, visually, with other games out today? Specularity, bump mapping, normal maps, higher resolution textures, well made models etc?

Whatever happened to that gigantic jaw dropping graemlin? anyway... That's fucking congress, man. I love it! Is this in any way playable at the moment? Any expected timeframe for release, if not? If this is your own engine, I'd like to talk to you about some way we could work toward getting SS1 functionality in it so that a proper SS1 recreation could be done after getting the textures, levels, and weapons\items\characters fixed up for SS2.

I realize that this would be a rather difficult undertaking, but would it be possible to improve the current animation system or add in a new one? It would be nice to have more fluid animations for NPCs, and to have more detailed weapon animations.
Keep up the great work.

I think the main point behind the project, is to allow the engine to run on all current pc platforms. I`d love to see improvements as much as the next person but.

Well, the time it will take mostly depends on the people contributions. I'd like to see a complete object system core this year.
I don't know the SS1 internals, maybe it is much too different from DarkEngine.

We'll see. I'll have to convert the skeletal animation to the Ogre's anyway, so I think NPC's could be made directly in ogre's format including the animations, but this is too much far away now...

Yup. But anyway, graphical face-lifts should not be that hard...
I'm glad you people like it.
