90% of the people who play IW think it's a piece of crap. The ones who don't are the same group of people who enjoy Halo, Doom 3, etc.
Personally, i didn't think DX: IW was that bad. I mean, sure it wasn't as good as DX, but still a good game. But what does Halo and Doom 3 have to do with it? And what is wrong with games like that? I mean, i know they're run-and-gun shooters, but i fail to see why they get bagged out so much. Personally, i love Halo, Doom 3 and other games of that type. They arn't really bad games.

Sure, they're GREAT games if you have the attention span of a gnat, thus you don't notice the incredibly repetitive level design and gameplay.

Bioforge is better.

For level design, go look at Doom 3. As for gameplay...meh.

I recently played Fear and was pretty dissapointed. While I found the AI the best I've seen in a game, I found the game itself got very repetitive after a while and never got more than half way through.
I was also a sucker and purchased Prey and although some interesting gameplay ideas in it, just like Fear, basically just another run of the mill shooter
Be glad you didn't take F.E.A.R. any further, after the sky scraper it became extremely boring, and the ending levels were a joke.
If i wanted to kill ghosts i'd play Pacman...
Prey had a few ideas, but was pretty dull and only took me two days to complete.
Solid single player games seem few and far between these days.

I DO know that professional critics liked the game when if first came out for the most part. A quick Google search just showed me that Gamerankings has an average score of 83% for the game with the user reviews being 75%.
Because it's impossible for 'professional critics' to be paid off or have opinions that are seen to be incorrect? PCGamer and a number of other mags held Doom 3 on a goddamn pedestal and claimed it to be the best game ever. It was ranked in the high 90's when it deserved closer to a 75, at the most.
Anyway, my generalization on putting Doom 3, Halo, and DXIW is the same thing ZB replied with. They all have very simplified gameplay and crappy design. Most people who like those games aren't the same people who like games like the original Deus Ex or the System Shock series.

personally? i lump all the games into one superseries. they flow together well enough, with DX being the prequel, and SS being the unfortunate end result of what AI we see in DX.

Personally I found DX to be a better RPG and SS2 to be a better shooter ;)
Oh and allo everyone, new here. Couldn't find (eh.. didn't really look for) the "introduce yourself" section of the forums.
