Morning!
I decided to start playing again, so I went to the faq and got SS1 to work again, though I have a small problem.
When playing at 640x480 all the colors are completely messed up. That doesn't happen at 320x200, for example, so I'm a little confused.
I am not using the NOLFB.com, because it seems to work without it. And even with it, the problem still occurs.
Any suggestions?

I'd suggest that you stay off the Berserk.

Thanks, that really helped me.

If you want play the normal version, then the SS1 FAQ at the top is where to post your problems. It's there exactly for the purpose of keeping the forum from being cluttered by little HELPME threads.
You could also try SYSTEMSHOCK-Portable which has solved problems for many people.

In fairness though, it's a billion pages long and I sure as hell wouldn't go there looking for advice. If we had a single-post locked FAQ thread like the Thiefgen forum it would be a lot less daunting and a lot more helpful.

We do have a single post locked thread in this forum. It's even posted in bright red. The other threads are precisely for any specific doubts that someone might have which aren't cleared in the FAQ. People can use the search function to search for their specific problem, but most often they just want that little extra attention and decide to post a new thread, using as an 'excuse' that the other thread is 'oh so full of posts that it's too much work searching through all of them'.

Well, it is. Have you actually tried to use it as a troubleshooting resource for a general problem? It is of course searchable, but it's hard to search for a solution when you don't know what "shape" the solution you're looking for is; that's where a readable list of Frequently Asked Questions in a single place comes in handy.
Which brings us to the bright red sticky FAQ at the top of the page. The bright red sticky FAQ at the top of the page
does not actually contain any troubleshooting information for System Shock 1; it instead links to Daxim's (good, but old and incomplete) external FAQ and to the aforementioned 16-page thread.

Exactly why I posted a new thread.
I searched through the 16 pages thread and looked at the other faqs.
I'd be glad now if I had found a solution..
The funny thing is.. last year the game worked perfectly, now I get these weird bright and wrong colors.

Did you try System Shock portable then? Failing that, recent builds of Dosbox give decent performance now on a newish computer and should give you reliable results.

I wanted to try the portable, but one file in the archive which you can get through bittorrent is a win32 trojan. So, I kinda deleted it in a hurry..
