I was inquisitive as to what the forerunner of Thief, SS2, Bioshock and plenty of others was like. I bought the CDROM version a few years back, and although I had initial sucess in Win98 and original DOS, I gave up on the game, as trying to relearn playing from a first-person perspective without mouselook was too painful, and I experienced hardware problems , even in original DOS. The portable version has really made playing this game far more viable, what with increased res, mouselook , XP functionality without crashing. :D It's incredible that these changes have been wrought in such an old game whose source code (afaik) is not available. Congratulations to all involved.
