Well, just start a new game then :D

Yeah, I realize of course I can do that. But my game backlog is too long and I need to move on. "Order of the Griffon", "Prince of Persia" (SNES), and "Castlevania : Dracula X Chronicles" aren't going to beat themselves!

Ok, I thought the weirdness was over, but apparently not.
I'm now at the tail end of the Bridge Mission. I've located 2 wire puzzles that I needed to solve to open force doors to the computer room for the Isolinear Chip; the ones with tons of Autobombs and the one where you drop down into a maze with a bunch of Sec-2 Bots.
The remaining one in the northwest corner of the map I can't get to due to the switch in the first alcove not opening any other alcoves. Without hitting the buttons in the series of alcoves, I can't get to the last wire puzzle to open the computer room and, following, the doors to Shodan's inner sanctum (which is not opened; I did check).
I thought the game may be simplifying the puzzles again as per the setting discussed earlier, but it doesn't seem so. There is still a red force door up in front of the computer room. Any ideas?

Yup, that button doesn't work. It seems that you will be unable to reach control room (or there's another way to open force door but i don't know it). Third control panel should be there after opening alcoves.
D'Arcy, what do you think?
D'Arcy on 28/1/2014 at 02:29
I'll try that savegame later on.
Running_Wild on 28/1/2014 at 18:43
Amazing. The game seems somewhat fragile. I had a similar game-breaking-bug happen in Ultima Underworld where at one point in the game all my stuff flew up to the ceiling.
Before I use your save D'arcy, I have a save towards the tail end of the 8th level, maybe an hour or two back. I'm going to try that and then, if that doesn't work (I kinda think it will work), I'll count on yours as a backup plan. Also, my prior save is right where the Plasma Gun is, where I had replaced my Magnum with that, which I regret. Thanks guys!
EDIT :
Fucking christ. I tried the above and upon entering level 9, went right for that switch. The damn thing still did not work. Something is literally broken with that save. I wonder how this is even possible. Did they not test some aspect with the Mission setting at 1? That would be my educated guess as a programmer.
Jeez... If I didn't have D'arcy's save, I'd be totally screwed.

Well, beat it tonight with the help of D'Arcy's save above. Thanks again!

I did have to remap the keys to a Gamepad using DosBox's Key Mapper since the Mouselook patch didn't work well there. This made moving around in CyberSpace a snap.
Overall I'd say this game is a flawed masterpiece. The game is great in nearly all respects but the movement physics leave a lot to be desired, even with the Mouselook patch, and Cyberspace is wonky. Anyways, I'm happy to have finally beaten this after having purchased it at Egghead's 20 years ago.
