Even though it is upside down?

At least you know now, how I felt when I had to read Kieron Gillen, trying to
psychoanalyze SS2.
So your response is to post some terribly-written bondage porn about him?
Kolya on 3/3/2008 at 14:02
If you read Gillen's blog entry you might have noticed that I wrote a parody and I didn't even have to exaggerate much, as for example the line "Yeah, you filthy bitch, talk dirty to me." is literally from the entry, where it occurs in exactly the same context and meaning.
Combine this with the fact that someone suggested to make his entry an epilogue for the fanfic collection talked about here and there you are.
Besides I had lots of fun writing it. Maybe we don't share the same sort of humour. Take it easy.

Don't worry K, I enjoyed it :D
For the ss1 fics, you have my permission if you want to use em. BTW Chris S and RocketMan are the same person.

I thought it was funny, but more so it was disturbing.

I finally did an SS1 compilation - so if you want to have a paperback printed copy you can buy it here - (
http://www.lulu.com/content/2393728) http://www.lulu.com/content/2393728. The cost of £10.82 is the Lulu printing cost - the item has obviously been set as zero profit.
I set the pdf version as free too, but then it doesn't show up on Lulu. Therefore I have uploaded it to (
http://www.cin.greenisp.org/2393728.pdf) http://www.cin.greenisp.org/2393728.pdf. It is then possible to copy it into word to edit it if you want to change anything, then print your own version. Or I can email the word document. The only difference from getting a print copy from Lulu is that the pdf doesn't iinclude the cover.
I am planning on only leaving the collection available for a limited period - once my print copy arrives I will probably delete the project. That way if EA ever decides that printing the fanfics count as copyright infringement then I won't get hauled up anywhere!
I may one day get round to doing SS2, but there are a lot of stories to make a selection from, and many seem to be incomplete or require a lot of editing.

Obviously you have no experience with print products. It's too late now but for future endeavours I suggest a smaller serif font for the main text.
Quote:
System Shock - A
Compilation
And this is just laziness. The "A" belongs on the same line as "compilation" of course. The "-" should have it's own line.
I guess you didn't edit the stories as they still have errors and sometimes randomly changed font size (Voice of the Resistance), random decorative elements (Free Radical), widow lines (page 67) and whatnot.
Maybe I expect too much. This is a simple text collection but no edition.

All fair comments Kolya!
I knew there would be lots of ways it could be improved. I'm happy to make changes and upload another version, it isn't a big task, but would need people to post corrections (preferably with page numbers etc).
I spent about a day reformatting the text, but purposefully didn't re-read the stories because I want to do that in print rather than on the screen. However that means that errors within the stories haven't been corrected. Again, that is where I am happy to make changes later if I am informed of them - and when I read the stories in print I will make notes as I go along. So version 2 (if it comes about) should be the final one.

I know this is an old thread, but it makes sense to keep all the information on this 'project' in one place.
I have finally created an updated version, with hundreds of edits made. I know for a fact that I will have missed some and created some new errors. Before I create a printable version on Lulu, I would invite anybody who is interested in this to post any corrections they spot, or suggestions. This will be the last version I update - so if there is a typo, or you have a suggestion for re-wording something, let me know!
You can view the current text at (
http://www.sudokan.greenisp.org/SS1.pdf) http://www.sudokan.greenisp.org/SS1.pdf
The pagination in this PDF not correct - sorry, it was altered by the software that created the PDF, but the pagination and layout will change anyway if I change the font/layout/words/paper size for the final version.
I am not a professional editor, so don't expect perfection - but I will definitely incorporate any sensible comments.
NB The printed version has a proper cover, not shown in the PDF. See the images below for what the current printed version looks like - quite a hefty tome.

I couldn't help but notice you made some very subtle changes to the original texts. Of course I'm talking about my own simply because I have a lot of it memorized and I noticed the wording was different in places. To be perfectly honest I rather like some of the substitutions but you should be careful about putting someone's name on a work if it's not the original work. IMO, quotations and works that are copied verbatim and not paraphrased should never be "edited".
The book in the images looks pretty cool.
