BioShock is totally unrelated to System Shock - in every way - and cannot be compared to SS2. It's an entirely different premise and genre. It is hardly a dumbed down SS2.

Magic powers- check
Creepy mutants- check
Turrets- check
Cameras- check
Hacking- check
RPG stuff- check
They're very close. Bioshock may be Diet Shock2, but it's still comparable.

Loved Bioshock. I far prefer SS2 overall, but Bioshock is definately a great game.
Shame theres no level editing tools for it though.

Hi,
I don't know if this is true, I heard rumors that EA doing a remake of SS, is there any offical word?
I'm not sure how various posts about BioShock in the System Shock thread section helped answer Fizgig question.
Fizgig: Don't hold your breath on any kind of System Shock games out of EA. Rumors abound plenty. While it is possible, I don't think it's very likely.

If it can't be a yearly rendition with optional 'street' versions, don't count on EA.

I'd venture to say that Bioshock and SS2 are more closely related than Shock 2 was to System Shock.

I'd agree. Bioshock shows a distinct devolution in the RPG features while increasing the predominance of shooting. SS2 compared to SS1, however... They're just parallel. There's no RPG at all in SS1, and there's no cyberspace in SS2. SS2 is more heavy on combat, whereas the basic mechanics of SS1 mean that it isn't the explicit focus.

Also SS1 is VERY cyberpunk influenced, while SS2 has none of it at all. A big disapointment for me.

SS2 is not more combat-heavy than SS1. I'd say they are roughly equal with maybe an edge to SS1 actually.
