I agree with Kolya. Not that much fun...
Now being able to control your character movement with your brain as if you were that character, i.e. duck, point your bullet-hose out the side of a wall and start spraying, then pull back to reload, just to fumble and drop your bullet clip, would be LOADS of fun! Still, not so much the pain. Unless you can control the intensity. Just keep it below that "point where you go into shock and slip into a coma"... Wait, can going into shock cause a coma? I don't really feel up to looking into it at the moment. Assume it does.

Dead Space would be better with:
Free roaming. - If I find a door locked, I want to assume that there is a key somewhere. I don't want to wait until the story lets me in. Make an intelligent use of key placement if you want to lock the door for the story' sake. Damn it.
Random monsters. - pre-placed monsters are ok. But once you backtrack, being sure everything is clean makes those pieces dull. And since I'm a careful resource manager, I backtrack a lot.
I can live up with the third person. Hell, I even like the angle and the clunky controls. Being shit at controls, it makes the game even harder.
