Also, third-person for the lose.

I could have lived with third-person ala Gothic, but that awkward angle gave me a headache and I stopped playing after about half an hour.

Seconded. I had a terrible headache after playing DS for 10 minutes, seriously. I still can't go on and give it another chance.

I'm surprised no one has hacked in a view mod yet.
Games without any editing capability for the lose.
The best part is that whenever I searched for a fix for the broken camera angle, I got nothing but threads where someone asked for a fix and a bunch of trolls jumped on him saying that the game was perfect and that such a broken perspective adds to immersion. :eww:

Yeah, the first hit brings up a GameSpot thread on the subject. And the posters in that thread exemplify why the expression "console gamer" isn't generally used as a compliment:
"its resident evil 4 like 3rd person mode is the reason why I want this game"
"the life bar is on Isaacs back. it wouldnt work as a first person. unless ur going to use two mirrors to see ur back"
"i ALWAYS find that for identifying with a character, third person is better than first. who wants to play zelda in first person?"
"If it were First-person I'd have no interest in it at all."
"First person detaches you from the character."
"It might just be me, but first person actually takes me out of the experience. "

Hence the design decision to make Thief: Deadly Shadows playable in third person and giving the player the body awareness of a cripple.

I might be the only person in the world who likes that camera angle and isn't a fanboy.

I kinda liked the idea of a total lack of HUD. Problem is, in reality, HOW WOULD YOU SEE YOUR OWN HEALTH STATE!
Tad silly.
third person does connect you to your character a little better but in the SS series, you create your OWN character, putting YOU into the game.
One of the best parts of the SS series was how alone you felt. Each time you thought you had help, they turned out to be either dead, out of reach or shodan(SS2). It was that personal sense of fear that made you duck. DS didn't have that. He was always someone else, which made it less frightening

To be prefectly honest, this one is showing hints of residual intelligence. Probably just a glitch though.
