On one hand, I have no doubt that Square Enix sport of the best CG artists around
Actually, that's Blizzard.
I guess this is less of a bad news than them working on THI4F since they're not going to utterly rape estabilished art style, but honestly - Deus Ex had in-engine cutscenes which worked very well. And that's a nine years old game, nowodays a thumb can have as many polygons as entire models back then, and that's not counting bump mapping and normal mapping and parallax mapping and oh god.
So I guess the question is, what is the point? What is the point of having CGI cutscenes in D3SU EX? They don't add anything to the gameplay, they cost a lot of money, and at their best
don't break immersion. I can't help but think this was a forced move from SQUEENIX to make some kind of statement. Whether it was "Yeah, but we're developing this game too, see!" or "We own your ass" depends on your personal shitlens level.

Square Enix has done feature length cg movies, so they take the crown.
And DX3 will be fine you shitheads :joke: As if a few vignettes are gonna change DX3 from being more or less what it is already. If it's good, it's already good.

Agreed - it would be a dumb marketing/biz move to just make it for PCs and should have clarified my statement there. Just that EM may consider making the best version (not to put words in their mouths or anything...) for PC - since it would most certainly run it best & reflect the awesome game that DX is/was - is enough to really hype me for this game - even if I have no facts to back that up (and therefore live in the Deus Ex fantasy land...). :cheeky:
Unlike other recent Developers (* cough - Infinity Ward...) who make the game (* cough MW2...) first for console and the PC game is pretty much more of an afterthought. :nono:

I also don't see the point in prerendered cinematics, and hopefully this means just a couple, intro and endings. That's pretty much all there was to it previously, anyway, unless Jock taking off counts. I can't help but wonder if there was any consideration to PR on this - their technical ability aside, it was pretty much a given that any further implication of Square Enix in the game's development was bound to make tons of old fans cringe and squirm.

Provided they [...] let someone else write the dialog, it might turn out decent. If not...oh god.
Yeah, I think that catches it nicely.

Have you even seen Advent Children? It's an utterly dreadful film. Non-existent writing; piss poor direction, editing and cinematography.

i agree. good-looking aint enough. SqEn just doesn't cut it, ppl see long sweeping shots and think epic+cinematic but in a movie/narrative you need more, much more than that. And AdventChildren for example or the other FinalFantasy CGI movie were just better screensavers. I think a cgi trailer / promo is just the right thing for SqEn, they certainly and positively can cut together a 1minute "mood/intro/pure action"- trailer.

Yea I imagine..
And they will also likely place japs as voice actors..

I've seen a bit of it. I'm talking about Spirit Within. Making a feature length movie is no joke, certainly nothing like a fmv with a background track playing to a bit of action.
