Vae, seriously. The Mods at TTLG are certainly *not* the enemy! The *enemy* is anyone who has no imagination, no passion, no soul.

:laff:...You have completely misinterpreted my comment...'Twas simply words of wisdom...to be understood or foolishly not.
Ironically, the opposite of what you thought is true.

No, I understood what you meant as clear as day. What I meant was that HSM took an outright disrespectful shot at the mod, for no apparent reason?! Did I miss an important memo at the fanatic HQ meeting today?! :p

Egads!
Clean up on Aisle 9!
So, who were the Top 10 video game publishing houses in 2009, and what rank was Square-Enix at that they aspired to be in the Top 10, acquiring EM in hopes they'd help them get there?

They were already in the top 10. They were the 9th most successful publisher that year.

Yes you did...It was supposed to be a defiant, mass giggle-out...Where were you?...:grr:

Yes, that is the true enemy...yet, not the poor soul itself.

It's those obese advertising budgets and lengthy development times that have led them here. Hitman: Absolution was an abject failure. They built a new engine for it (at great expense) and advertised it to the moon and back. Meanwhile, Tomb Raider's advertising budget actually matched its development budget. Which is an appalling waste for a franchise that's already so well-known.
I really don't think it's a matter of 'making better games' for Square Enix to correct the problem. Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider are great games, and Hitman: Absolution's 3.8 million in sales should be a respectable number (even though it's a horrendous video game and an insult to the Hitman series).
It's genuinely a case of corporate mismanagement and lack of leadership.

It's not 1998. Tomb Raider isn't "well-known" anymore.

Does anyone happen to know the ratio of development costs to advertising costs for TDP and TMA? How about TDS?

I would love to have a single resource for that kind of info for once. I wish the author who wanted to do a Looking Glass book hadn't been shot down.
