That said, I am curious to see how much the dialog during the final, pre-credits cutscene differes depending on what you did during the game. In mine he talked about how he kept his humanity and whatnot. I haven't seen a video of what he says if you play like a douchebag.
Nothing too fancy, while I loved the game on the whole, the endings do manage to score a column in the "despite" category all the way through - basically, there's
the four buttons, each of which will give you one of two different endings based on how much of an asshole you've been. The two variants for each button only differ from one another by a couple of sentences, and it all boils down to: (a) colossal "I fucked everyone's mum" asshole; or (b) moderate "I fucked everyone's mum but only when really, really asked for it" asshole. Keep it on topic, guys. Why does Megan's bed have a ridiculously heavy gauge power cord running to/underneath it?

Just completed it. It's an amazing game, with an incredible amount of detail and care put into the game world. It's also a very tightly designed game, it's robust... more so than the first game. Honestly I think this is a far better game than the first Deus Ex. It's got it's faults, but it is small stuff... haven't played a better game in a lot of years.

I have to say I agree. I'm trying to think of some major problem I had with the game and I'm coming up blank; anything that bugged me about the game is so minor it's not worth mentioning.
Oh, wait, the ending sequence.
So DXHR's "vending machine" ending selection comes off a bit... naff, I guess? The initial choice you're given, the three buttons, okay. That's just editing and/or broadcasting a video. It at least makes sense in the context of the game. But I'd expect at least some effort to blow the place up beyond wandering down a side hallway.
But even that? Meh. It's worth complaining about, but only for five minutes. As a game mechanic, it's kind of shitty, but only slightly more shitty than DX1's game mechanic which is basically the same thing except you have to put some effort in to reach that button. And even in DXIW you had to shoot some people to get the ending you wanted. But all three games basically dump the ending selection in your lap at the last minute; DXHR at least kindasorta makes up for it by having Jensen's dialogue be different depending on how much of a dick you were. As a story element, I don't have a problem with it.
I took the blow-everything-up ending, btw. Anyone else get a MGS vibe?

Its actually the first thing that crossed my mind when I did it.

Now, I haven't finished DX3 yet, but from my understanding, no matter what ending you pick, it's technically canon because the events do inevitably lead to creating some element of the scenario presented in DX1. Maybe because they had to keep DX1 in mind is why the ending is so boring?
Lol dethtoll running around being the guardian of dx3 fending off any criticism while not having beaten the game. Incoming troll in 3 2 1...

I'm still very struck by the total lack of any animal life in DXHR. It's seems like such a lost opportunity to add another dimension of realism to the game.
Inspired by my recent play-thru of DXHR, I started playing the original game. In the very first level, I ducked behind a barrier only roll into a flock of pigeons who flew at my face and alerted the guards to my position. I loved it. Moments like this were sorely misssed in the prequel.

Even Yahtzee had mostly good things to say about it this week.
Despite all of the complaining about the game It's a winner for me in one big way.
Nearly none of my close friends play PC games. Let alone play them with me. If there is any multiplayer going on it is almost always Halo. They're halonerds.
One of my friends went out and bought himself a brand new laptop, because he needed one for school. but you don't need a 17 inch laptop for taking notes. He wanted the computer to play DX3. He told me it is his new favorite game, and he'd rather play it than halo. He's only just getting to highland park and he already has this lasting impression.
Now he is on steam, and about to buy DX and IW, both of which I showed him already, and the doors are opened now to all manner of great late night gaming sessions.
There are a ton of people right now playing DX for the first time and realizing how great gaming can be. I've said it once already but I'll say it agian. This game may be flawed in some ways, but I don't know a game that isn't, but it is a labour of love by the new eidos studio and we need more games that follow this level of dedication. Now that I'm finished it I don't really know what to play. I'm going to skip out on Dead Island and Space marine until they're a bit cheaper. I'm going to wait a month and play Rage. Beyond that I dont' know what could compare.

I just started up DX1 as well. Aside from some issues with the subtitles (namely, they get shoved off-screen in cinematics, and they're a little too high up in regular conversation) it looks great in widescreen with the new DX10 renderer. (With HDR turned firmly off, mind.) Took some work getting it going though, but whatever.
What strikes me is how unused I am to having everything so damn dark. I'm very grateful my new IPS panel isn't completely useless on black.

yeah, the new renderer is helpful, but the hdr is a must-deactivate. it even lets me play in multi-monitor.
