From the Thread title you can tell I have not played Oblivion... I tried, i swear... but after the tuturial I was.... disapointed... Iventory and stats... among other things... I ight give it another chance some time, but that is not why I am here....
I've been playing for almost a week now... And obviously some questions came up due to stuff NPC's tell me....
1- What happened to Vvardenfell? Some tell me Red Mountain Erupted 200 years ago (I guess the Event is what turned 3rd Era to 4th Era), does that mean that all cities on the isle are gone? Did vivec relocated to Mournhold or something?
2- What is this nonesense about being able to get married in-game? And why does a Redguard women seem to think I am alredy married?
3- The Greybeards seem to not know where to find more words of power... But I know for sure there are more out there.... for example, my fire breath shout only has 2/3 words....
4- How come some NPC's are un-killable? The Jarls, the children, etc...
5- I find myself wondering, did I do the right thing doing the side-main quest of freeing Skyrim by the rebels side? Or should I have joined the Legion? Too late for that now, but still, I wonder...
6- Is Alduin really gone?
7- Should I kill Paarthurnax or whatever is name is? The dragon pet of the Greybeards.... I mean, I alredy completed the main quest, and have no need ofr Blades help... and by the way, since when are the Blades Dragonslayers? I remember them as the spies of the Emperor.....
8- Where or how can I get a Greybeard's Robe? I kind of like it....
9- How many houses can I get? I got the Whiterun one, and collecting money for the Solitude and Ulfric's Town one....
10- Will Helgen ever be reconstructed?
11- What use is the Elder Scroll after the Main Quest?
That's all....
Congrats to Bestheda for restoring my faith in TES games....Main quest+Secondary Main quest FTW......
:D

You get a bit of information on that in Windhelm. The dark elves there mention having to move because the "air was choked with smoke and brimstone". No mention of mass destruction, so there's probably a few of the old cities lying around.
And The Event is the Oblivion Event. The last of the Dragonborn Septims dying, and the permanent sealing of all Oblivion from the rest of the Real World marks the last days of the 3rd Era. Pretty much everything that happened in the appropriately named Oblviion. Vvardenfell just happened to erupt around that same time.
Also...GIVE US A SPOILER WARNING!

Spoiler Warning? Sorry, but I dont see where spoilers are.... I mean, been 10 days since skyrim came out, and I only played for 6.... I though most people would have finished by now....

Maybe some of us are waiting until we get paid and our father gets out of hospital before we buy it, hmmmmmm?
Ulukai on 21/11/2011 at 16:40
And maybe some of us don't rip through the game like a candyfloss-fuelled toddler even though we do....
Genshi on 21/11/2011 at 17:06
Sorry about that then... I sure hope that Matthew's father isnt in the Hospital then... :P

There were two major cataclysms in Morrowind: the Ministry of Truth crashed into Vivec, which then caused the eruption of Red Mountain. I hear the Infernal City novel goes into detail.

It was all your fault, actually (you monster). The Tribunal was created when they leeched some power from Lorkhan's heart, and when you destroyed it in Morrowind they lost their divinity. Unfortunately it was Vivec's divinity that held the ministry of truth above Vivec City (it was originally a meteorite which Vivec stopped from crashing, and he left it hovering there to encourage people to worship him,
or else), so when that happened the rock eventually proceeded to fall ([The Infernal City spoiler]
the dunmer managed to postpone it for a while by teaming up with a daedric prince to create a machine that kept it aloft and RAN ON SOULS) which caused a number of natural disasters which culminated in the eruption of the Red Mountain and the destruction of Vvardenfell. Then the argonians decided to get some payback for the centuries of slavery and invaded Morrowind, so the dunmer don't really have much of a homeland anymore.

No nonsense. You can get married in Skyrim; my advice is choose a warrior type person. It's not only great fun (your spouse provides you with one square meal a day plus extra income), but you can have your spouse 'follow' you. Really helps when you find you're outnumbered by enemies. Of course, you can just go find a warrior NPC willing to follow you (usually Mercs, though I did find a Bard that was willing - but he turned out to be a lousy fighter) without going thru the whole marriage-thing.

Sounds like you're blasting your way through this game as opposed to savoring it and taking time to really enjoy everything about it. Try slowing down, and if you're stuck or have questions,
UESP Wiki (Skyrim) has a lot of the answers. Contrary to what you may think, Skyrim is
not an FPS.

I dont like FPS anyway... :P
And I didn't blast through the game, took me 3 days to complete the main quest(72 total hours so far)...And I married a common girl.... The one that needs a
mammoth tusk for trading with khajiit.... she is kinda cute.... I wanted the fruit selling single mom but she doesn't want any man.....:(
And I apolagise to all Dunmer for destroying their homeland.... but Vvardenfell isnt the WHOLE Morrowind.... They still have the mainland, which is big enough.....:ebil:
And it seems to me they should launch TES3 Morrowind:Cataclysm.... Like WOW did.....buhahahahahha
